I'm not sure myself, I can see what the Speaker is saying but I'd hate to see them all looking like a sack of, tied up in the middle.

I can speak klingon too eddie! I like languages and speech constructs and rhymming slang has a very interesting history.

looks like the usual crowd have their Alans in a Brahms. For donald sake I can speak Judi but I wasn't ripped in Charles was I!
To you maybe!
"It can make the user appear a bit of a Jeremy at times though?"

That's a bit of a modernisation, Dave. The original rhyming slang for that term was a "Berk" (i.e. Berkeley Hunt).

Readers should hopefully realise that the Bow Bells which define a true cockney are not in Bow (London E3) but are in fact in the church of St. Mary-Le-Bow in Cheapside in the heart of the City.
Puerile.
I agree 'Slang' has an interesting history. But it was not spoken by those born in Southend !
Take no notice TTT me Ole China, keep it coming I love it.
Thanks for the clarification NJ, but a sparra would know that from birth!
Yes, true 'sparra's' are few and far between now!

so you cannot adopt any form of language unless you are indigenous eddie, right oh!
It may be worth considering which topic you choose in future - Chatterbank is good for a general light-hearted gossip and goodness knows the Jokes topic needs an uplift now and then - but News? Really.
On a side line , how many know that EE's Walford is based on the real life borough of Shoreditch ? Now one of the most 'upmarket' areas of London with average house prices of £ 3 million plus !
Of course they should wear ties.
Parliament is the very centre of British democracy and it's members represent the British public to the country and the world at large, they should show decorum (outwardly) and self respect (inwardly).
"On a side line , how many know that EE's Walford is based on the real life borough of Shoreditch ? Now one of the most 'upmarket' areas of London with average house prices of £ 3 million plus !"

Yes Eddie. For 24 years I lived a mile from the border with Shoreditch. It was a dump then and it still is now. The only difference is they’ve converted all the deserted warehouses and factories into what are quaintly called “apartments”, and added a few “trendy” restaurants which I would not trust to feed my dog (if I had one). I wouldn’t live there if you paid me £3m !!!

You are right that true “Cockneys” are few and far between. Not many people can afford to live within the sound of the bells in Cheapside. Those born in Guy’s hospital just across the river can lay claim if the wind is from the north. Mrs NJ shares that proud distinction.

In all the excitement I nearly forgot. Yes, MPs should wear ties. If they don’t they are in danger of resembling senior directors of trendy IT companies (probably based in Shoreditch) or politicians from Middle East hell-holes.
Funny old world, no one ever objects to posts in French, or German, or Latin, I even have fun now and again with a little Cymraeg. But god forbid that 3T has the temerity to post in good old original London cockney ryhming. Not highbrow enough....sniff.
The Speaker seems to have given a common sense reply, one which I wholeheartedly agree with.
You don't get many of those to the kilo Mikey.
"...to the pound", Mamy
i remember when you couldn't get into the local palais de danse without a tie ...
Togo - I object to it and have voiced that objection!
