Looks like Scotland have fallen out of love with the SNP. Their 13 seats for the Tories have proved to be vital.

a very clear message has been given to Nicola, who admitted this morning that her calls for indyref2 have led to SNP losing so many seats, 22 at last count, she needs to either listen to Scotland's voice, knuckle down and start running the country from Holyrood or resign her position as FM..either way she needs to shut up now and listen !
Agree. If they hadn't called for another dumb referendum in such a nakedly political way, Davidson would have been unable to capitalise and the Tories would be well and truly stuck right about now.

As it stands the SNP's failure has to all intents and purposes propped them up.
indeed Krom..tactical voting as I predicted ..mea culpa !
I voted against the SNP as much as anything else and while I don't think I was personally successful (still a little too sleepy to look up full results), I'm glad to have seen them slip back. Briefly in the wake of the EU referendum I flirted with backing Scottish Independence but once I'd sobered up again I remembered that keeping the UK together was too important to me. Seeing the SNP fall back so far, after nailing their colours to a second referendum so soon, is one of the brightest moments of the night for most people, I should expect.

Might be an exaggeration to say that Scotland has fallen out of love with the SNP altogether, but if they really wanted to force a second referendum then they should have been so much more patient. It's backfired and -- irony of ironies -- has been the difference between a disastrous night for the Tories and a catastrophic one.

well they were once known as the "tartan tories" jim!
get those trainers on Jim ! we'll run roon Holyrood Park for a change and toss a few buns for Nicky ! lol
Shades of 1979, although on a smaller scale, TTT?
All true, but I think that it is inevitable that both Scotland and Wales eventually gain independence and that Ireland is united. Now the irony is that whilst all three nations talk of their independence they all ignore the inevitable further result. That being England, by default, gains its very own independence and I am afraid goes on to become even more of a financial power centre, and area of wealth in what will become the defunct UK. Be careful of what you wish for at all times.
Lets not forget how well the SNP has done over the recent years. In 2010, they got 6 seats, in 2015, 56, and even last night, they still managed to get 35 ( if I have that correct )

So they are still a thriving concern in Scotland.
The SNP is not finished but they have taken a big hit so it might send the message to just get on with running Scotland.

Couldn't agree more Togo.
