South Wales East AM Mark Reckless set to quit UKIP

Last of the two Tory MPs that Farage poached in 2014, is set to go return back to his roots. At this rate, UKIP will be just a dim, unpleasant memory. Good riddence !

Except for Brexit.
Ha ha Mikey. Ever hopeful of a Labour landslide while one of their most inept leader captains and steers the floundering ship by denigrating the most successful political voice that got what it set out to do.

And that is exactly why you seem to hate them so much. They achieve while Labour fart around like pompous uni students puffing away in their dorms putting the world to rights with words and ideas that are just not feasible, realistic or even needed half the time.

Unpleasent memories come in all shapes and parties but I suppose as Mikey demonstrates we generally only point out our opponents failings.

Unpleasant as that trait is it abounds fully.
Their memory will never be unpleasant. Some members achieved some funny news reports, whilst at the top Farage achieved an amazing win without even being elected to Westminster. Meanwhile there's no reason to believe they won't be around at least until Brexit occurs. MPs weren't something they had in excess anyway.
UKIP have achieved their aim and changed the course of British history and will so go down in history for that achievement.

And certainly not an unpleasant memory in the majority of peoples minds!

Meanwhile labour .........

OG....around in what form ?

As a pressure group, eager to be interviewed by anybody and everybody, just to ensure that they are not forgotten ?

They have achieved what they started out and now they are an irrelevance. But will the Tories welcome Reckless and Carswell back into the fold ? Once a backstabber, always a backstabber perhaps.
//now they are an irrelevance.//

Are you taking abut labour?
Question Author
YMB...meanwhile Labour what ?

Labour are still the only opposition to the Tories. UKIP have been promising to represent the views of "the working man" according to its current Leader, Paul Nuttall, but shows no indication of how its going to do that.

Labour will continue to be the only opposition to the Tories and that position will never be taken by UKIP.
Labour are not an opposition, just a noisy rabble.

It's a shame as we do need a powerful opposition but Labour will not be providing that.
//YMB...meanwhile Labour what //

You really dont know the problems Labour have ??
Labour is not going to make a comeback anytime soon, what we are seeing is a slow but sure return to the 3 party system, Tory,Labour and Liberal Democrat.
The Tory/Lib Dem coalition set the Lib dems back a long way but they are slowly regaining ground.
The Lib dems are now gaining more members per year than either Labour or Conservative.

This thread is not about Labour YMB, but the continuing unravelling of UKIP. Labour still has 231 MPs and UKIP have none.
//Labour will continue to be the only opposition to the Tories and that position will never be taken by UKIP. //

What's your problem then?
Question Author
Eddie...I admire you optimism about the LibDems, but when has Britain ever had a 3 Party system ?

The LibDems currently only have 8 MPs......to think that they may come back at any time in the future, let alone the near future, and be the opposition to the Tories is wishful thinking in the extreme !

Labour is and will remain the only opposition to the Tories...twas ever thus.

YMB....you say that "It's a shame as we do need a powerful opposition" ........I agree, but if its not Labour that will be supplying that opposition, than who will ?
// Except for Brexit.//
.....

o god = doesnt the evil men do live after them ?
MIn much the same form as they always have been. For sure many of us see it will be difficult to remain a force after Brexit, we have no need for a further party, the ones we have are bad enough; so those UKIP members with an eye on their future as politicians, may jump ship; but those who joined to achieve a withdrawal from the EU will stay to try to ensure it goes through without any sell out by those negotiating post Brexit agreements.
In !!!!
It seems my delete key doesn't work as I trusted it would.
// ddie...I admire you optimism about the LibDems, but when has Britain ever had a 3 Party system ? //

Possibly in 20 years or so we will still have a 2 party system but the 2 will be Tory and Liberal. That was the way it was, the Whigs and Tories for hundreds of years!
Labour has only been around since the 1920s !
Question Author
Yeah Eddie....I was forgetting the 1920's ...lol !
