//A victim of domestic violence was assaulted after a social worker twice disclosed the address of her safe house to her abusive ex-husband....It is claimed the social worker believed it was the husband's "parental right" to know where his children were.

The local social services have apologised for failings in the case.//

More futile apologies. What happened to common sense?

crazy....
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Also what happened to the social worker?

After the first time she disclosed the address and the victim got beaten up what did she think? Did she really think, Oh that poor father. What a nice, loving father he is. It I should despicable that he shouldn't be able to see his children, it is after all only his ex he is violently towards.

The social worker should be sacked and never allowed to work in social services or any kind.
Sounds like both police and social workers need to be replaced if the story is accurate.
Seems beyond reason.

The start of my comment is

Police offices are using her case...

Gromit, This is the actual quote from the article. // Due to Ivy's high levels of anonymity and risk to her life as a result of identifying details, we have been unable to independently verify all details in her story. Police officers are using her case in training and she has spoken to MPs and Lords about her story. //

I don't think it's fabricated.

Whilst the story sounds appalling, we do not know if it is true. Whether it has been embellished for training purposes. What happened as far as diciplinary action against the social worker, or the police officer that initially refused to believe her.
As it is, it is a one sided allegation with no verification that the information is true and what if anything has been done. //

What on earth is going on with your posts Gromit?
anyone who wants to be a social worker should not be allowed to be one. Idiots one and all.
Idiots one and all.

or perhaps just struggling to an impossible job, sorting out the messes that society can't be bothered with and taking a kicking when anything goes wrong... like that in the stupid comment above.
this wasn't a mistake jno it was the intention. Giving the address of a battered woman to the bloke who battered her on the basis that he has a "right" to see the kids, just demonstrates monumentally bad judgement. Social workers cause untold misery and countless deaths with their right on trendy BS.
Sorry TTT but that is not right-on enough for jno and you should know that.

My daughter is in Uni at the moment studying to be a Social Worker. My opinion of you was pretty low before your ridiculous comment Tora. It's rock bottom now. The world isn't black and white. It's not In or Out. It's not all idiots or all genius's. You must be permanently confused by the world and its complications.
Social workers constantly let the vulnerable down, usually battered babies as has been proven time and time again and now a poor abused woman, BUT lessons are always learned, aren't they ... ??
The Fiona Pilkington matter is a key case to refer to. It highlights the failures across a multi-agency basis. Where safeguarding is concerned it is not just social workers who have to follow those guidelines.

They do a very difficult job and occasionally something goes wrong as in this case.
