I think the post was unacceptable - politicians' children are not fair game for satirists.

That said, the lady has acknowledged her error and apologised.

I am amazed that President Trump has not commented - maybe he is learning that when you are the aggrieved party - even by proxy - you can do yourself more good by keeping quiet.
Not fair to pick on a child, silly moo !!
I'll leave her employment status to her bosses but find any comments about family members (especially children) to be inexcusable.
The tweet was unacceptable.
But it was her private twitter, not her work one.
If everyone was sacked for what they wrote on twitter, then there would me no one working.

The TV network are a commercial enterprise, and do not take any taxpayers money, so they can have their own suspension/dismissal policy, and that is no ones business, but their own.

I think you will find many can be, if I bring the company into disrepute I will be fired. We are given courses on what is acceptable including on personal accounts.

Yes, it is up to the Company and ultimately their decision, but we are all allowed our opinion despite the best efforts of the liberal elite.
Ymb,

Saturday Night Live have been lampooning Trump for months.
This private tweet went too far, but is hardly going to damage the show/network, anymore than they have already done themselves.
Saturday Night Live is a satirical programme. I'm sure they'll be horrified by one of their writers being satirical.
just another example of how nasty the left can be, attacking a 10 year old. All in a days work for an SGB journo.
she didn't attack him. The complaint is just about mentioning him at all.
TTT - //just another example of how nasty the left can be, attacking a 10 year old. All in a days work for an SGB journo. //

Making an ill-judged comment on-line is certainly not the exclusive preserve of 'the left' - you have been on here long enough to know that for a fact!

In fact I would go further - if I was to analyse the attacks I have received from AB'ers, and analyse their political leanings in the process, I know in advance which 'side' would stack up with the most venom.

It was a stupid thoughtless thing to post by one individual.

The fact that SNL is liberal in its outlook - it needs to be to possess anything approaching a sense of humour in its country's difficult political climate - and the new president is about three inches to the right of Attila The Hun is not the issue here.
/// In fact I would go further - if I was to analyse the attacks I have received from AB'ers, and analyse their political leanings in the process, I know in advance which 'side' would stack up with the most venom. ///

It's not just about Andy-Hughes, I think that I am ABers No1 Whipping Boy, from venom that I receive and I certainly know from which side of politics they come from.

One has only got take into account their insults and name calling, all totally unnecessary.

You yourself gave a perfect example with this type of remark.

/// and the new president is about three inches to the right of Attila The Hun ///
(sigh)

'the left'.

(sighs again).

I'm not sure I actually get the joke to be honest. But a general rule is that policiians kids should absolutely be left out of criticism and lampooning.

It was ugly when it happened to Chelsea Clinton, it was ugly when it happened to the Obama girls, and it's ugly now.

Of course, when it happened to those others I mentioned, it wasn't 'the left' using their poison pens.

(one more sigh for good luck).
In fairness AOG - you have a tendency to make threads about you.

You're doing it right now.

And there are times when it appears that you deliberately goad people into arguing with you on a personal basis.

In som cases, you are 100% justified in taking offence.

In other circumstances, it looks like you join in.

I may be wrong about this - but in a decade of membership of AB, I think I see these trends, behaviours and patterns.
AOG - //You yourself gave a perfect example with this type of remark.

/// and the new president is about three inches to the right of Attila The Hun ///

That was aimed at President Trump AOG - you can't claim to be personally injured this time.
indeed, Rush Limbaugh said Amy Carter was the most unattractive presidential daughter ever, and Chelsea Clinton was a dog. I don't know where youngmafbog went to vent his outrage on those occasions, but I'm sure he demanded that heads should roll.
AOG - // I think that I am ABers No1 Whipping Boy, from venom that I receive ... //

Possibly there is a question there - begging to be asked ...
I didn't read AOG's post properly.

I'm lost.

So - insults to politicians are now out of bounds?!???

What's going on?

Is this for real???

/// That was aimed at President Trump AOG ///

I am quite aware of that, thank you.

I was referring to the name calling and insults which we see coming from the left on a constant basis, all against anyone who disagrees with the Left's agenda.

Just go back to some of the numerous threads about Trump for examples of what I mean.

Perhaps the same could be said of your comment, after all you said it first.

/// In fact I would go further - if I was to analyse the attacks I have received from
AB'ers, ///

AOG - you and I have been on here long enough to know that vigorous debate often includes name-calling and insults aimed at public figures, and I am sure there is a case to be made for the majority of them as coming from either side of the political spectrum.

But since investigation of that premise would be about as productive as working out how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, I suggest we desist in getting ourselves bogged down in such irrelevancies which detract from the issues at hand, and can get somewhat heated in debate, and raise ourselves to the higher levels of debate deserving of our considerable intellect.
