OK, so IMHO religion is the root of most evil but lets forget that bit because what I am trying to understand is why there seems to be one rule for one and another for a certain other religion we all have to bend ovcer backwards to accommodate?

What always puzzles me with things like this is - I had a slightly irritating experience at the supermarket, but got my goods. Went home and.....decided to contact the press?

What exciting lives some lead.
Andy...this is the usual DM rant....and YMBs second of today !

Has anybody ever seen YMB and AOG in the same room together, at the same time ?

Its getting very spooky !

// inviting people to have an anti-Muslim rant//

So why did I point out most Muslims I know who run business are happy to serve it?

What I was getting at is why does one religious fanatic get roasted (many christian bakers would have just got on and peddled the cake) and another doesn't.

I think Andy in the last two sentences of his post has pointed out why.

\\In this instance, and employee who does not normally work on a section selling alcohol was placed on a checkout where serving wine was required.\\

//But it doesn't actually say that, if it's read correctly, it says

The store confirmed the member of staff worked on a kiosk where alcohol is 'generally not purchased' and would request another colleague's help if the situation arose again in the future//.

"In other words if someone came to her usual workstation with Alcohol."

Sounds like Tesco had her employed in a reasonably Alcohol free area already.

//The customer has the same recourse in law should he wish to pursue the issue.//

How true, let's hope the shopper considers himself to be part of some sort of "minority community" and has the backing of a pressure group who will gleefully take up and fund a prosecution, just for the mischief, then. .
Mamya, I have the phone number of the Daily Mail newsdesk constantly to hand. The number of Tesco assistants I have reported to them for imperfect behaviour, you just wouldn't believe.
Mamy...some people lead very boring lives, and after all, the DM has to find something to fill its pages with !

What better than an anti-Muslim rant ?

I suspect wnet home and posted on a tool of the Devil would be more like it. The DM and other papers probably trawl looking for 'appropriate' page fillers.

A comedy story on the latest labour troubles perhaps?
//A tool of the Devil// - like t'internet forum like you are?
Mikey, although it suits you to deem it an anti-Muslim rant, it isn't. It's a point of principle.
YMB - //The DM and other papers probably trawl looking for 'appropriate' page fillers. //

Of course - any paper is going to pounce on a story that chimes with the mind-set of its readership, and some chippy foreign gel getting uppity is right up their street!

A tool of the Devil is TwitFace as I'm sure you must know as I have used the term on her many times.
YMB....(13:03)....its been pointed out by people on here that your analogy between the NI Bakers and this incident is non-existent.

Why don't you read what they have to say and if you don't understand, ask for clarification ?
I have shopped in our local Tesco and gone to the cigarette kiosk with a bottle of wine to purchase a lottery ticket or cigarettes and been served with no problem. The POS terminals and bar scanners will take any item on sale in Tesco and process them without a hitch.
YMB - //What I was getting at is why does one religious fanatic get roasted (many christian bakers would have just got on and peddled the cake) and another doesn't. //

Very simple. The first instance involved breaking the laws governing prejudice, and the second instance did not break the law at all.

But they are religious grounds, based on a known system of religious values and edicts.

Or as I see it ... based on ***.

That is not the same as wanting not to serve cigarettes because you don't like smoking - if that was discussed at the interview, the store would reasonably withhold a job offer, and the situation would not arise.

Can a store reasonable tell someone' we are withholding the job offer because you are a religious nutter who won't do the job we require you to' ?
YMB....(13:06)..... I always know when people like you are running out of anything useful to say, on a post that they have raised, and that is when you attempt to change the subject and talk about the Labour Party !
Has this only been reported by the Mail, or have other press publications featured it?
it's in the Sun and the Evening Standard.
