You continually called for the resignation of Jeremy Hunt, early on in this health dispute.
Yes, he could have given in to the Unions at the beginning, thus avoiding the crippling strike by junior doctors.
He didn't " slowly slowly catchee momnkey"...job well done JH.

From Sqad's link // But today the British Medical Association admitted it was time to 're-engage' with NHS bosses and study how the new contract would work in practice. \\
Err yes, a bit late but Yes.

Unions have their place but sometimes they are dogmatic, confrontational and don't seem to fully appreciate how a business must run efficiently and economically. It's not even as if the NHS is run for a profit and any business that ran up the losses it or at least some trusts do would be dead and gone long long ago.

I know the NHS is this sacrosanct Goliath that no one dare question but without a proper overhall it will be what brings this country to its knees.
I'm not sure from where the committee of the BMA is drawn, the chair seems to be Mark Porter (an anaesthetist) I hope he has now been finally anaesthetised.
Surely all that quote means is that the staff could no longer continue and Hunt wasn't concerned about how long it took or how it made him look. "Seeing how it works in practice" is code for, "we have protested as much as we could and now feel forced to accept what we still believe is wrong". It isn't going to be started up again once it is in action, no matter how it goes; but it will be a continuous grievance for staff. Nor does it mean Hunt was right, merely that he was able to stick around while the protest ran out of steam.

Mind you, this would be the same BMA who agreed a deal that didn't reflect the opinion of it's members, earlier, wouldn't it ?
My experience of trade unions extends to those of the film industry, higher education, and building trades, in every case, the officials were what you might call 'losers'. You never find directors, professors or master craftsmen involved in such matters.

So the BMA, remind me, that's a trade Union isn't it, got it wrong again. All those poor folks having appointments/ operations cancelled because of a Trade Union beating it's chest :o(

Thank goodness! Well done JH.
Membership of the BMA extends to students, lots of those very young looking 'junior doctors' waving placards on our screens were in fact, students, (plus heaven knows who else) and.... well, you know students.

Gosh, do you mean the BMA was being less than honest with us?
Gosh, how come mikey has missed this thread from Sqad especially for him?
yes Dr Porter ( anaesthetist ) sounds as tho he is willing to turn out over a weekend and do routine lists .....

I wonder when he will retire ....

surely surely he hasnt agreed that his younger colleagues will do things he has no intention of doing himself - No! No! It cannot be ....

Sqad - tell us all that that never happened when you were a consultant ....
Ladybirder at 22:38, yet another spasm of selective reading perhaps?

C'mon mikey...be fair...this was one of your "hobby horses" and you have failed to contribute.
Not so sure it's 'well done JH' as much as pressure from senior colleagues. Anyway, I abhor strikes, especially when they're carried out by people who are supposed to have a calling, a vocation if you like, to a certain career.
Question Author
Zacs....which senior colleagues?
You don't get much senior than Secretary of State for Health.
