Perhaps it was "put up job" to garner the sympathy vote.
Maybe someone 'cross the pond knows this but what would happen in the event that one of the Presidential candidates dies prior to the election? Does the Vice Pres. candidate stand?

It comes down to the party's National Committee to approve who runs in advent of death or nomination withdrawal and before election - and it has happened....

In 1912, Vice President James Sherman, a Republican, was running for reelection when he died days before the next election. The Republican National Committee named Nicholas Murray Butler as the replacement.

In 1972. Vice Presidential nominee Thomas Eagleton, a US Senator, withdrew from the race after there were disclosures of medical issues. The Democratic National Committee named Sargent Shriver, the former Director of the Peace Corp, as the replacement.

As to post election, it's thought that the same obligation of nomination would exist and in the case of President, it would probably be the Vice. There has been one incident with a Democrat dying between the election and the swearing-in but he was on the wrong side of the winning equation so it was irrelevant. 1872 and Horace Geeley was his name.....
My guess with the heat and her thyroid etc, what my mother has, an arrhythmic faint - and perhaps similar to what Islay experienced....
DTC > I am beginning to wonder if Islay is Hillary.......very similar, it appears

Ha!
More than a stumble:'(
yes, it looked like a faint and she was helped into the car, her security providing a screen.....the hour and forty to the show outside Chelsea's appt would be long enough to regain her marbles....
I would have thought that if a president died between election and inauguration the Vice would be inaugurated and be then free to choose his own vice. When Spiro Agnew resigned Nixon appointed Gerald Ford. When Nixon resigned Ford appointed Nelson Rockerfeller, so 1972 - 1977 saw three vie-presidents.
well Johnson appointed Hub Humphrey as VP on assuming the Dem presidency post JFK's assassination.
Unfortunately I think Trump has just won the election.
^ his chances are less faint..
Nah, forgotten about by November and it seems to be a bigger issue here than the trending on my US web server at the moment...unless she has a cardiac incident of note.
Last week when she was coughing & spluttering in a speech, Fox News showed it in slow motion, and she spat out a couple of mucus blobs in her glass!
After Bill's antics in office, too much information, trt.....
She doesn't look at all well.
