Even by his standards this is bonkers.
We used to have a string of tedious "here's another reason for voting out" threads.
Allow me to start a trend on "another reason for voting Clinton" ones!

Yes old geezer it's hard to see how NATO would have any credibility without the US guarantee. It's not ideal that the US is much more wealthy and powerful than the other members but that is how it is and for a US president to question that would be extremely serious
"Trident as a system and independent deterrent is controlled by the UK
It is the US which controls the actual missiles, or the supply of them " - oh dear we did this last week, more egg on face methinks. Anyway he's bang on, why should we expect the yanks to wade in for us if we are not doing our bit? For too long the anti western lefties have used their granted safety to hate us from within, we are more interested in spending 3 times our military budget on WSS, ditto the rest of the EUSSR, Trump is a breath of fresh air. Trumpaggeddon is coming Ichy!
Trump is saying a lot of things that sound good to the American electorate without necessarily being feasible or sensible - that's his game plan.
Building a massive wall on the Mexican border and getting Mexico to pay for it, for example. The worrying thing is it might get him elected.
shush ludwig you are giving the game away, the clintonistas believe all that old pony!
Because he's Trump...what other reason do you need ?
Why does it seem to be assumed that the % of GDP that the USofA spends on defence is the correct level and other nations are not doing their bit ? Isn't it at least equally valid to consider the USofA as overspending, and trying to get everyone else to do so too ?

If the US announces publicly that it is simply not going to help its allies as a matter of course, (as opposed to reserving the right not to get involved in a particular instance at a particular time, which I don't think anyone would think unreasonable) then the NATO alliance is pretty pointless.
He may well have a point in saying that some nations should contribute to NATO budgets, but that is a million mils away from declaring that the defence guarantee is no longer there.
