A rather confusing question.

He is now a backbencher because May has not given him a job.
At some future date, in a reshuffle, he could get one.
He could, but I doubt he would want to be- and I doubt any PM would want to have him.
Has any ex PM , ever taken another post in the same / other government ?
Yes, Alec Douglas Home became Foreign Secretary in Heath's government.
I expect it depends on their departing.

Thatcher hated Heath and was never going to offer him a Cabinet position.
Blair went to 'earn' a fortune. Brown, Major both went to the back benches before leaving parliament.
It is said that Thatcher offered Heath the foreign office but he refused to serve under her.
I don't think it's true to say that Thatcher hated Heath, though Heath certainly hated Thatcher.

Sorry if I confused you gromit, I asked the way I did because I did not know if Cameron was continuing to be a member of parliament.
