And it's wrong to believe that all country folk are in favour of fox hunting because they aren't.
I'm hoping TM gets it now after hearing on the news this morning about AL's support for the return of hunting and her opposition to gay marriage. Goodness knows why she's putting herself at odds with a massive section of the public regarding hunting, seems a daft thing to me.
I think I heard one of the commentators say that the whole Gove standing business was a put up job to stop Boris.
Sounds possible to me as I do not think that there are any depths to which our current politicians will not stoop.
sp - Lenin quoted — 'There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.' How true....

I just hope we see a better balance of what major segments of the economy contribute along with a sensible upside/downside risk appraisal of such issues like ecological balance as well as gas/emission balances - and allowing for resource depletion. Take the heat out of the effing extreme groups, though that is nigh on impossible these political days.

It would be awesome if that came to pass. Right now, I can't tell from one day to the next what the hell is going to happen.

But personally for me - Theresa May taking over the reigns of the Conservative Party is a massive uptick.

If Labour could see their way of dumping Corbyn (my local MP by the way)m all the better.

May in.

Corbyn possibly out.

Farage gone.

Gove Knackered

Crabb dismissed.

Happy days for me.
shame about Crabb, I was looking forward to seeing the NHS funding cures for homosexuality.
The Conservative grassroots are bonkers and always pick the most useless leader - Hague, IDS, Howerd to name a few.
I have no doubt that Leadsom will win the leadership vote, she speaks to the blue rinse brigade, and May is part of the metropolitan elite that they so despise.
There's a cure for homosexuality ? :-)

I may be wrong here, but I am sure that the first leader to be chosen by the grass roots was Cameron. Howard was unopposed and Hague and IDS were elected by MPs. I stand to be corrected, though.

Is that Frankie Howerd?
Didn't know he was that politically minded tbh.

Titter ye not!
Jack,
Trust you to spoil my rant. You are undeniably correct.
You credit these politicians with too much intelligence. They have cunning, highly developed duplicity skills, and survival at the trough capacity.
They think integrity is a place name in America. Cynical? Who, me?
So, all set for Maggie Mark 2 - Maggie May...there's a song in there somewhere...................
Would have to be May for me, even though I would have preferred and outer.

I really dont think Leadsom is quite up to the job.

Have to wait and see now I guess.
Question Author
That's what they said about Maggie!

"If Leadsom were to win the leadership contest it would be because the unelected Tory members had disagreed with the will of the elected Tory PLP
"
put them on the same spot as Labour, then? "

In principle, except that the Tories are actually in power, so whoever wins will automatically become PM which suggests to me that the members will NOT go the way of picking an IDS or a Hague. But who knows. In normal times they might pick the safe option, but if they are thinking, foolishly, along "Brexit/Remain" lines only, then they light pick the Loathsome option. They may additionally feel that as the only real opposition comes from the SNP then it doesn't matter if they pick a loony :-)
// sp - Lenin quoted — 'There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.' How true.... //

what about - "there are boodiful moments but offal quarter-of-hours"
Offenback on Wagner's muzak.
and

// Tory members had disagreed with the will of the elected Tory PLP //
would be difficult as as PLP means parliamentary Labour party

I only mmake these comments to amuse people and illuminate issues
PCP then :-) Oh u know wot I mean
Actually I think I might want Leadsom to win as I'm up for a fight ...
Question Author
Be careful what you wish for as it may well happen.
Like I say, I'm up for a fight and if she wins there will be political chaos as both major parties will have been hijacked by unelected and unrepresented members.
But I sort of would quite welcome that
