It seems to me that the racism card gets played here on AB (and indeed, everywhere else) when someone really can’t think of a viable argument.
One of the definitions of racism is “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race.”
Which is true.
Besides which, Muslim isn’t a race, it’s a religion, and you don’t have to be dark skinned to be a Muslim.
As I said on the ‘Mayor of London’ thread - “because we are not a muslim country, although we are rapidly becoming one”.
Have you considered that those you deem racist, may actually be patriotic?
There should be no room for religion in politics, the mix can be far too toxic.

bazwillrun, I've seen a lot of non-specific comments on social media saying that Khan's election is some sort of death knell. Can you be more specific than them, and maybe explain in more detail why you think - to take a cue from your thread title - his election contributes to the slow but sure destruction of the UK.

Only if the witness prefers it Mikey. He can either take an oath using a holy book of his choice (six or seven are available in most courts) or he can make a non-religious "affirmation" - a solemn undertaking to tell the truth. The effect is the same.
For the record I have no problem with people of any race. So long as they are in the UK legally and abide by our rules, regulations, conventions and laws and do not warrant special treatment I have no problem with them. It is true that I would prefer the UK to restrict the numbers of people being allowed to settle here. That has nothing to do with race; I simply believe the UK is over populated and its facilities and services (particularly housing and healthcare) are bursting at the seams. I believe over population is an enormous threat and that is why I believe the UK should find other ways to staff its businesses and services without shipping in enormous numbers of migrants.
However I do have a problem with religion and with Islam in particular. I have no fondness for any religion but most seem to be able to get on with whatever it is they do without letting the world know about it. Islam does not. It is an all invasive religion which effects every aspect of its followers' lives, often to ridiculous degrees. Further than that, there is no accommodation in it for people of other faiths or none at all – hence my contention that there is little chance of a “multi-faith” service being held in Tooting Mosque. It has a culture, traditions and beliefs that are totally at odds with those of Western Europe. In particular its teachings on gays, women and equality in general would be actionable should they be voiced by non-Muslims. Islam is causing huge problems in many parts of the UK and anybody who suggests it is not has either not witnessed them or is in denial.
There is no place in Europe for Islam and the continent will rue the day it decided to embrace “multiculturalism”, deciding that all cultures are equally valid. They are not and Mr Khan’s election to high office is, I’m afraid the beginning of a long but sure process of the Islamification of the country. I won’t be around to see its completion but many will and they will ask what on earth we were doing in the late 20th and 21st Century.
