Those two statements are contradictary, as well as being wrong.
Academies are run by the Department of Education from Whitehall. That is definitely not devolving poer locally.
The Welsh want powers delolved from Westminister, so there is no inconsistency in Mikey not wanting local schools to be run from there.

agchristie...I am sorry but I am still of the opinion that Nicky performed badly on QT....she was like a rabbit caught in the headlights.
If she is going to run with this proposal concerning Academy schools in England, I think she is heading for a huge fall, if what Gromit tells us turns out to be the case.
Don't get me wrong...she appears to be very nice and not anything like as rabid as some Tories appear to be, but I think she has been promoted above her station, and I am not remotely concerned what school she herself went to, as it is irrelevant to this issue.

I was merely challenging your assertion that she is 'daft' when her education proves otherwise. It is relevant to this issue because otherwise she would not be considered qualified to make the speech today. Or are you saying that her performance on QT be the yardstick to judge her capability to perform her duties?
A certain Mr McDonnell didn't cover himself in glory on QT did he when he appeared!? How many of the Labour Shadow Cabinet have been promoted above their ability?

She is a Government Minister and thus a Member of the Cabinet. She would have been party to the elements that Osborne and Dave presented to the HOC. But her performance on QT quite clearly showed, that, like the rest of us, she hadn't understood the implications of the proposals for disabled people in the Budget, and indeed, she thought that they were only "proposals, " not actually policy.
She appeared on the program, as a representative of the Tory Party, and the Government. It was an entirely understandable expectation of all of us, that she should have understood what the Budget proposals meant, but it was clear, within seconds, that she didn't.
This was a lamentable performance. She wasn't just some multi-purpose Tory person, plucked from the local Tory Womens Guild...she was a senior member of the Cabinet.

Mikey, there have been any amount of senior politicians across all parties who have given a poor interview or tv appearance. It does not make them unfit for their everyday role.
Morgan will have been in her current post for two years in July and there is no sign that Cameron proposes to move her.
As I stated, Theresa May has had difficult times and Jeremy Hunt currently. You wouldn't say Hunt was unfit for office just because of opposition from junior doctors.

It looks like it is Osborne who has gone rogue. He is imposing policy on his fellow Cabinet Ministers, and they are too scared to say no.
Only the most arrogant Chancellor would think he could steal local schools from his Conservative County Councils. He really is heading for another embarrassing fall over this. A stupid move when the Conservative rebels are eager to inflict as much damage as possible on Gideon.

you are responsible for education of the young and the output data is truly carp so do something about other than snigger ....
