Judge Jonathan Rose has said that a custodial sentence is inevitable but has allowed Adam Johnson to be released on bail before sentencing at a later date
Question Author
Interesting as the judge accepted a majority verdict after all.
Before sending the jury back out earlier, judge Jonathan Rose said there is “no pressure” for them to return a verdict.

The court heard one of the jurors has a two-day commitment this Thursday and Friday. I wonder if that was a reason for a majority verdict?
Question Author
Jomlett, I thought exactly the same. The thing is, the Judge has said the verdict had to be unanimous.

Used his discretion?
The footballer is a complete idiot. What was he thinking, sending texts like that to an underage girl?
Question Author
Indeed Cloverjo, but he was found guilty of a more serious offence than that i.e physical touching
Couple of years max plus the five or whatever it is on the sex offenders register
Physical touching? Is there such a thing as non-physical touching? Sounds like tautology to me.
I meant he was an idiot to even remotely start anything like that with a young girl.
Another case of the -ick rules the head by a -ick head.

Cloverjo....I am with you on this....he has acted foolishly, and will now pay the cost
"It can be reported for the first time today that Johnson was scolded by the judge during his trial for 'discourteous behaviour' after he was seen joking with a security guard who sat next to him in the dock.

At the end of the second week of his trial, he was overheard saying to a friend: 'I hope this is finished by Friday. It's a bit boring now.'"

ok...Ive changed my mind 5 years , this will pizz the judge off more than the charges

DB - I was aware of that and I knew this morning about the unavailable juror for Thurs/Fri. The judge said he would make a ruling on that if necessary. I expected an adjournment rather than accepting a majority verdict.

The other thing was that the second verdict soon followed the first rather than together.

I wonder if any club will employ him in the future? Not impossible given that Lee Hughes was signed again albeit after serving a different offence.

yep, and Luke McCormick went straight back to the game too.
Question Author
Mushroom, yes, there's been a few players who have made a comeback.

Baz - I reckon he will get 7 years (but out after 3-4).

DB - should be interesting. I wonder what the 'fresh evidence' consists of? Time will tell....
