Judging by some of the sympathetic posts on the side of the driver, I am surprised that they are not shouting for his immediate release, since he has suffered enough.

I agree with what anneasquith has put, this was not an accident, it would have been an accident if he had happened to had a front tyre blow, or due to a medical condition he lost control of the car.
But he was a young inexperienced driver who was driving a car he was not accustomed to, ignored a warning light and accelerated unnecessarily after clipping a mini roundabout, thus mounting an area reserved for pedestrians.

On a motorbike - yes fifty years ago I was a bike-boy - I ran down a kid on the bike. The front mudguard still had the slicers ( number plate ) on but it didnt slice her as the impact speed was so low ....
she had run - darted yes darted - between two cars - danger alley (?) - on the first day that the lollipop leddy was on her holz. ( and I got verballed by the police but that as they say is another story )
and yes I have always missed any other children since then
and yes if a child on the pavement isnt chained to their mother then I think ' hum yeah that one could be another darter ' so you could say I have learnt from it

Not deliberately of course not, if he had done so he would have been facing a murder charge or the very least a manslaughter charge.
