Why do you object? He's entitled to say what he's said - and actually I don't think it's acceptable that some areas of this country, due to immigration, have become unrecognisable.

I was born very near Bradford and grew up there. I studied there - it was a good place to grow up - I taught in schools there and around most of my life. I have seen the changes first hand.
I have explained to classroomsful of young Muslims that Islam is a religion, like other religion and that one can chose one's religion - they didn't believe me (most were polite about it). They kept arguing that Christians could become Muslim, but not vice-versa. The Bradford diocese used to keep a few 'safe-houses' for people who decided to convert.
I can try to find out a bit more about this, but the people I know who live near, never go into Bradford now. The story really tells us nothing we should not already have known or extrapolated. Poor chap, I hope he'll be OK and helped to make a new life.

naomi, I can't understand why you feel like that. Many places in the UK are unrecognisable because of 'progress', not immigration. Many towns and cities in 1950s Britain would have been unrecognisable to a person who died in 1910.
And don't forget we British people have completely changed the face of many towns and cities across the world in the last 40 years - I don't mean colonisation or the Raj. There are parts of Spain where you'd be hard pressed to get tapas or paella, or even hear a Spanish voice. You should hear the Spaniards' complaints about the high cost of housing in those areas and the Brits who are illegally operating as taxis, taking the livelihood off legit taxi drivers.
It is obvious why immigrants to Britain have clustered in certain areas such as Bradford.
