Why are all protests by the ordinary man and woman in the street classed as Right Wing? I am sure that there are even some Left Wingers who are now getting concerned about these huge influx of peoples of an opposite culture entering Europe.

The latest is that some 140 immigrants have now landed on British sovereign soil that being the RAF base in Cyprus.

come on AOG, anyone who does not agree with the prescribed view on any given subject is a right wing, knuckledragging, fascist, even in Rainbow land!
You asked 'why are all protest by the ordinary man and woman in the street classed as right wing'?

a) they are not (the G4 protests for example)

b) This protest was organised by Patriotic Europeans Against Islamisation of the West, which is a right wing organisation. As such, it is not a huge leap to assume that the vast majority of protesters will be supporters.

By the way - what's wrong with the term 'right wing' all of a sudden?

It's not like they're being classed 'hard right' or 'extreme right'.

Is 'right wing' an insult now?
They are not 'the ordinary man and woman in the street'.

They are a Nationalist organisation hence the number of German flags. They heard speeches from right wing activists including our own Tommy Robinson.

Yoy'll be telling us that the EDL are just the ordinary man and woman in the street. They ain't.
AOG - I don't believe that all protests by the ordinary man and woman in the street are classed as Right Wing.

The reason why this one is classed as Right Wing, is because it was organised by a Right Wing organisation -

'Organised by the Patriotic Europeans Against Islamisation of the West (PEGIDA) it is the second major protest in a week, following Monday's event which saw English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson among the speakers.'

That is from the link you posted.

So the right-wing connection is there - the paper merely pointed it out.
Looks like I cross-posted with my colleagues - but we have all reached the same conclusion independently.

It seems weird that AOG didn't clock that when he read the report.

And as for all protests being classed as 'right wing'.

That's just odd.
Right, left, or somewhere in between, in the circumstances I don't think this is entirely unexpected.
"....but we have all reached the same conclusion independently."

Excellent use of humour.

Not just supporters of that particular organisation but also persons who posses the same concerns, you cannot force people onto the streets in protest.
"b) This protest was organised by Patriotic Europeans Against Islamisation of the West, which is a right wing organisation.".

Can I take it, then, that unpatriotic Europeans FOR the Islamisation of the West is a left-wing organisation?

It would seem very much likely.
It was only an innocent question, AOG. I wouldn't want to stereotype people.

No, they already have a name, they are called Radical (and some not so radical) Muslims.

I enjoyed your exchange on the other thread with my favourite moderate Muslim, Khandro, particularly when he morphed seamlessly from triumphalist mode to misunderstood victim. After being ticked off by you I tried to keep my language appropriately "parliamentary".
"No, they already have a name, they are called Radical (and some not so radical) Muslims.".

They have friends in high places. Low places too, for that matter.
//unpatriotic Europeans FOR the Islamisation of the West //

They're the ones we ought to be concerned about.
AOG

This was a protest organised by a right wing group. It's fair to call it a right wing protest.

What's the problem with labelling the protesters right wingers anyway?
There’s a curious anomaly in all this ‘left’ and ‘right’ business. The assumption appears to be that only the ‘right’ are concerned about the Islamisation of the West. However, since Islam is about as far right as you could possibly get, it would make more sense for the left to acknowledge that and join – if not lead - the protest.
