I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

I don't see that any poster who joined the discussion before 237 weren't being sensible.

just being picky and nit picking the whole argument to bits for no reason other than to be picky. 237's answer was the only sensible one
No, prudish, just a different view.
^ I beg your pardon?
That is your choice Gordie, I did no nitpicking and certainly won't clutter your posts up with a reply the next time you ask for assistance.
Soz. iPad. I quite like it tho. ;-)
i was in asdas when they announced there would be a minutes silence all but one stopped then it dawned on her what was happening and she also stood still .
Gordie speak.

Sensible = one agreeing with him.
I have just watched the minutes silence in Tunisia. No one is taking selfies, you have made it up.

Over to you, gordie; can we see your evidence then?
Oh dear.
Gromit - that`s ITV news. It photo taker was on the BBC News 24 channel. He was to the right of the crowd, at the edge of the water.
Watch the clip on the BBC. Very clearly someone with a big white phone taking pictures.
I think an apology is due here Gromit. Clearly gordie stated the BBC, why get another clip to try and prove he is is a liar?

Unless you think the BBC set it up of course or edited their clip?
it is the only clip on youtube at the moment.
That's not an apology and is a p poor excuse.
That is a poor excuse. Come on Gromit - the apology.

TRy your iPlayer.
http://news.sky.com/gallery/1512783/silence-remembers-tunisia-dead There is also one (lady`s hand holding patterned phone) in the extreme right of the picture. That makes three then
Watched the BBC coverage. There is 1 man with a phone 2 inches from his face. He is not taking a selfie, which involves hold the phone at arms length. It looks like he is filming the ceremony.
The BBC news coverage on their website was from 1pm highlights. I saw the original footage at 1200 (it wasn`t the guy with the white phone, it was someone else). As I said, you can`t see if they are taking selfies or ordinary photos but surely they can just put the phone down for a minute.
