See the comments about the voting public as said by Polly Toynbee, Kevin Maguire, Neil Kinnock and Ken Livingstone.

I am appalled they treat us with such contempt!!! Remember this in 2020!

To be expected. Labour holds its own supporters in contempt by taking them for fools - but they can't see it. Fortunately it didn't work on the rest of the electorate.

We will hopefully soon find out. Cameron has promised and will deliver a referendum on the EU, being sold as "getting our country back". I assume he's going to hold to that promise, at least.

If so the debate will be interesting. And as I've hoped for a referendum (so as to have the opportunity to vote yes) then that's one of the brighter spots of the recent result for me.
Jim, //Cameron has promised and will deliver a referendum on the EU, being sold as "getting our country back". //

I don't recall Cameron ever selling the expected referendum in that manner. Nigel Farage spoke of 'getting our country back' - but not Cameron.

Yes, of course. I was mixing two views there. I suppose I meant "being sold by some".

At any rate it's a referendum I think the country needs.

// Ive been watching this site for a few years now(though not a member) and there have been very few left of centre members either banned or suspended. //

You have only been on this site a few days and you are already moaning about right wingers being banned.

Hmm, you joined a couple of day after Retrocop was banned...
They're upset about the result. Good.
Don't think you need to be Sherlock Holmes to come to that conclusion Gromit.

Stickability? Is that like a plaster?
Is anybody surprised by the comments from Toynbee and others? I'd have been more surprised if they hadn't made disparaging comments.

The simple fact of the matter is that the Tory option was more palatable than the shift to the left that Milliband wanted. If Labour can elect a leader who will take them back to left of centre, they will have more chance in 2020.

They are not secret. Have you ever bothered to look?

Sorry, wrong thread.

/// The steady drip-drip away of more typical left-wingers from those debates; ///

Perhaps it is because the lefties have now lost their argument, lost their Party and have now retired into their corners to sulk.

I suppose they will be back but I don't know what they will post on now the election is over and they can no longer show us daily polls on how well their beloved party is doing, soon for the red flag to be flying over No 10.

Plesase excuse our self smugness, but we told you so.

That's no way to welcome a new member on board especially coming from an official AnswerBank Moderator.

Allow me, welcome on board Sonarfishfish here's hoping you have a long and pleasant time with us,and don't be scared off by the 'Bully Boys'.
Careful, aog. I said that* and had my comment removed.
*I wasn't as polite as you, to be fair. ;o)
Well, perhaps, AOG, although this was happening long before the election.

Enjoy your smugness for the time being...
The anti British hate it when the masses don't produce the "correct" result. Standard left wing vitriol. They never think a new thought, they never even consider examining their own view. The public must be idiots for not agreeing with their percieved wisdom, always been the same.
