Thank you Tony - and I didn't even mentioned the horrendous responsibility involved.
Some of us went to University from Grammar Schools before polytechnics and technical colleges converted. We were the lucky ones.
*mention .... sorry, tired.
I understand ( I think ) naomi. Somethings aren't what they seem.
Hey Daisy, for 5 years I had to spend one full day and on another day do a late evening at Tech.
Indeed they are not.
I would hate to go to university now - too much like hard work. When I went up in 1972 the only requirements were that you kept term (i.e. were in residence) and turned up for examinations in order to satisfy the examiners. Lectures and submission of essays were purely optional. None of this dissertation nonsense.
A degree does not equate with either success in the workplace or financially
But Daisy just like a City and Guilds certificate a degree can certainly help you on your way, don't you think.
How true. Two degrees and as poor as a church mouse.
Degree, teaching certificate, counselling qualification, various add ons (courses, exams, dissertations) at my own expense, no travel allowance, more pay? No.
Good thing that I enjoyed study for its own sake.
Did not want to go into administration, wanted to actually teach.
Not remunerative.
Daisy, the money isn't exactly great for a time served craftsman these day's either.
Although i understand exactly were your coming from. Coalface workers aren't appreciated are they.
My plumber seems to be flourishing
LOL, is he Polish per chance, Daisy ?.
No, Sussex born and bred.
Good for him then, Daisy.
Lovely bloke, wish him well.
So do I, Daisy.
