What a cheek, these parents should now not be allowed back in this country with or without their daughters.

If you bypass the headline - usually a sound idea where the Mail is concerned - it is clear that the parents feel that the police are appearing reluctant in their offers of assistance, and it would appear that this remark (if indeed it is a quote) is probably borne of frustration and anguish as much as a desire to smear the police, as the Mail would like to spin it.
I think the parents lack of faith in the Police started a good while back when they gave the girls rather than the parents a letter telling of the fleeing of an acquaintance some months before.

The Police have apologised and acknowledged that this was a bad move.

I should also imagine the parents are indeed blaming themselves every moment of everyday.

naval - // To the gentleman who called this girls trollops how mean and awful!!A trollop is an immoral or promiscuous woman, especially a prostitute.

There is no evidence that before going to join Isis that these girls were like that at all. They have actioned their beliefs - rightly or wrongly to be called trollops is disgustingly low imo. //

That will be retrocop who is never shy of expressing a trenchant opinion!
Oh come on you holy joes.Unless you pick and choose what you wish to read then you might remember the usual pracise for these young girls who leave for Syria is to offer themselves as ISIS brides. That is prostituting themselves and I stand by what I say. They are schoolgirls who would have limited knowledge of medical skills do what other purpose or use would they fulfil.oh no.you aren't suggesting that these children might be given Kalasnikovs to amuse themselves are you.Well who would of thought it.these females were not under the control of the police when they decamped and were NOT under contro of their irresponsible parents.

AH
So in your infinite wisdom and flower words please offer your opinion as to why these girls have left the UK to go to a country where ISIS routinely decapitate westerners who go for humanitarian purposes. I said I'm an earlier post one can only speculate why they went there. Now please enlighten me.for what possible reasons would you imagine they went there?
//I think the parents lack of faith in the Police started a good while back//

Shame their lack of faith didn’t extend to their all-embracing religion. They saturate their children's minds from birth with a belief system that dominates every aspect of their lives and then complain when those children take everything they’ve been taught literally. If they want their offspring back, leave them to search for them. High time they took responsibility for what they've done.
I can't help but wonder why so many on here treat this case as if it's the first of it's kind in living memory...or even before. Impressionable young people have been going off in search of mis- directed ideals, adventure,a bit of rebellion...for centuries. There is nothing new about it as every generation has its causes...some proven to be worthwhile...many resulting in needless death and destruction.
I also wonder how much blame would be put on the parents if this involved nice middle class children from middle England as opposed to Muslims?
Some teenagers are too easily influenced and led astray, they are often naive in where they put their loyalties. They can also be secretive and incredibly sneaky in their actions and movements. Parents can also be naive, seeing ideal sons and daughters...not realising what direction their kids are going in. Its all very well and good to assume these evil parents must have known...blah,blah,blah. Its never as simple as that. But of course...we'd all be better at the job.
//how much blame would be put on the parents if this involved nice middle class children from middle England//

Nice middle class children from middle England wouldn’t have been brainwashed by their parents into believing that Islam is the be all and end all of existence.
Pasta freak
If the parents have failed their kids then it is not blameworthy of the police is it?
Fair enough Naomi - you did only quote half my sentence, which referred to the topic raised by OP - ie The Parents view of the Police handling.

I also added, I am sure they feel very responsible indeed.
Sorry folks, but I have no sympathy for either the parents (?), or for the misguided individual, but IMHO, they've made their choice - bye!
Perhaps not by the parents -- but they may well have been brainwashed by stuff they read on the internet. And it wouldn't have to be Islam either.
Mamyalynne, so sorry, my post wasn’t intended as a criticism of you – I simply used your reference to the police to illustrate the point I was making.

Jim, they’ve been raised as Muslims – they were indoctrinated before they ever touched a computer.

No idea to be honest.
Nibble - //Sorry folks, but I have no sympathy for either the parents (?), or for the misguided individual, but IMHO, they've made their choice - bye! //

No need to be sorry - if an opinion is worth passing on, it's worth holding honestly. If you start by apologising, people may think you don't have the courage of your convictions.
Yes, blaming everyone but themselves - typical !
