I'm sure most of us remember this old boy from last summer:

Courage, fortitude and guile right up to the end.

RIP

RIP.
RIP indeed.
"Bernie caught the world's imagination last year when he made his 'surprise' trip to France and brought a huge amount of joy to a lot of people"

He certainly did. Thankyou for everything Bernie.
God bless the old boy.My love and respect follows him and others like him.
Having learnt of his demise on TV today (with subtitles) he stated that this country was,at the time, 100% worth fighting for and was a a wonderful country to die for if necessary as did his mates. That is why he felt the urge to abscond with good military planning and guile to honour his mates at the 70th anniversary of Operation Overlord. I wonder if his opinion of this country has changed when he drew his last dying breath to remuster with his gallant pals who fell before him. RIP. We will NEVER forget
Man was a hero, right to the end!
Oh how sad - I'm delighted he had one last adventure before he passed away. He really captured my imagination and I truly admired him, was delighted he was safe and well among friends - May he Rest in Peace now
He lived very near me and I used to see him out and about sometimes. Lovely lovely man. RIP
My admiration and greatest respect. RIP
Magnificent fellow...I'm particulary saddened that he won't now carry out his threat/promise to do it again this year!
