I was in Lewes last night for the fireworks etc but there was such a huge crowd, I didn't have view. I didn't see that gordie. Wish I had.
What has that got to do with a stalker ?

Burning effigies of political figures is nothing new. I believe George Osborne was burnt one year. Originally on Guy Fawkes' night it was an effigy of the pope which was burnt.
And the effigy wasnt burnt. It was stopped due to (I read) one complaint.

The plot thickens.
There were 2 effigies - one was saved and the other was burnt
Really not sure why they would want to burn Alex.

Perhaps it was because they were hoping to be able to send home all the sweaties once they became furriners.
immortalty! they did it for TGL herself, looks like alex is in good company.
Burning effigies is an unplesant practice - it has never been any different.
Totally unacceptable, love him or hate him he doesn't warrant that disrespect, on VE day they burnt effigies of Adolph Hitler now that was warranted, how times have changed.
Well some may disagree that it was warranted AOG. - not me BTW!

who was or is TGL?
Perhaps they wanted their own version of Guy Fawkes .

Well it's sort of similiar , isn't it ?

Guy Fawkes failed in his bid to blow up parliament
Alex Samond failed in his bid to extricate the scots from the British Parliament
All harmless fun in the line of political satire. After all, what is worse than being talked about? Not being talked about.
one recent year they burned an effigy of david Cameron wearing a glove puppet of nick clegg.......
No, I do not agree with burning an effigy of a living person. Nasty.
Not a fan of AS, but don't think it was fair to want to burn an effigy !
It's a bit of fun I think, taken in the same way the Spitting Image lot used to lampoon politicians..... Some need to get a sense of humour I think...
