Where Are All The Right Wing Comedians?

You couldn't move for them in the 70s, but without resorting to Wikipedia, I would be hard-pressed to name a single successful one right now.

This stems from the ongoing Andrew Lawrence / Nigel Farage / Frankie Boyle spat:

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/lee-kern/nigel-farage-andrew-lawrence_b_6082256.html

Andrew Lawrence (a comedian whose work I am not familiar with) states:

The reason there are no right-leaning comics in this country is because whenever one has the balls to stand-up, they become the target of a witch-hunt. Where there should be balance, there is, terrifyingly, censorship.

Can there REALLY be some sort of conspiracy to keep right wing comedians off of all UK tv channels? I could have believed that back when we only had four channels - but right now, we have 480 (or more)!

Could it be that 'right wing humour' is the world's biggest oxymoron?

You know...you may have hit upon something there. Alexei Sayle was proper, proper, proper left wing.

I suspect that what the Kippers and some on here think as 'left wing' is 'anyone whose views don't dovetail with my own'.

However, even that doesn't answer the mystery as to why UKIP supporters (or those who generally agree with their policies) are physically incapable of hearing any criticism be it serious or in joke form, without frothing at the mouth and whining about the awful unfairness of it all.

I can't ever recall a time when Lib/Lab/Con were so sensitive.

Can anyone explain that one?

Why are right wingers so prone to...

...hissy fits?
Frankie Boyle NOT a moron, now I've heard everything !
I think the lefties are just a bit more laid back.

## maybe they are all like that Iraqi 'comedian' who's entire routine hinges around him being Iraqi.##

I think you will find he is Iranian, '' Alexie Sayle.''

Because they're (usually) full of anger and intolerance, right-wing politics hinges on this afaic.
Laughed at that one trt - reminds me of ""President Obambam is denying that he's planning an air strike on Iraq and ISIS. So, you know what that means? He's planning an air strike on Iran."
because they leave the spotlight for left-wing comedians to make fools of themselves....

You've misread my post.

And why not try engaging in the discussion, rather than resorting to personal insults?

Why do you think there is such a lack of right wing comedians?

It can't possibly be a BBC thing, because it goes across all 480 UK channels.

Where are they?
Farage always makes me laugh, although I am far from sure that he thinks is intentional.
Looking at the dire standards of today's comedians I concur that most, if not all, must be left-wingers...
The really funny comedians; Spike Milligan, Morecambe & Wise, Tommy Cooper, Marty Feldman, Python, etc. made the nation laugh without being either left or right.
Well the greatest comedians of all time, must be-------Yes you have guessed
correctly--------------- Cameron and Osborne yeeeeeeeeeeeesss,

Omid Djalili then.
I think Farrier missed his vocation - or maybe not.
Is Al Murray's Pub Landlord character really ironic or could he, under the guise of irony, be saying what he really believes?
Comedians tell jokes. It's what they do. The fact that a comedian tells jokes against any particular political affiliation does not mark him down necessarily as belonging to the opposite wing; the funnier the joke, the more laughs he gets, and the more laughs he gets the more he gets paid.

There's plenty of time. He doesn't seem very old.
