Just caught a bit of the television news where someone said public opinion is changing and the people of this country are now generally in favour of Britain taking military action against IS. What do you think? Yes or no?

Yes.
I wonder what your thoughts are naomi, but I would like to see them wiped off the face of the earth.

My thoughts echo yours, cannedgranny.
Yes. Though bombing a few holes in the desert won't achieve much.

We really need troops on the ground, and a lot of 'em.
Definitely yes, wipe them out.
Well Naomi, over 80% in the Twitter Poll think so and so do I.

IS controls a land mass equivalent to the size of Britain. Just pause for a second to think about that everyone.....
Paying ransoms would put more of our citizens in danger of kidnap when they go abroad.
Oops, wrong thread. Sorry
A reluctant 'Yes'. I am concerned about the result on young,British Muslims who are already disaffected.
To answer the OP, I would agree with military action against IS.
I think that if we put troops on the ground we are going to have a lot more dead British soldiers, bomb the *** ot of existance.
I cannot see anything wrong with the word I used to describe I.S it merely describes their parentage.
Yes, it's my opinion that military action should be taken against this fanatical throng; however, I don't think that Britain alone should take the initiative; some type of alliance should be formed. and pdq, to eradicate them.
Against ISIS alone, then No.

Why do you think public opinion has changed? (assuming it has)
Maybe because a Brit faces execution and that the governnent was appearing very weak?
Like most things its not that straightforward. Wiping out 5,000 i.s. fighters and clearing out will just store up worse trouble for the future, imo.
Not sure what can be done, though. Stop trying to destabilize governments in the region, perhaps. Stop interfering in ME politics altogether?
Yes. If ever there was a case of 'Peace Through Superior Firepower', this is it.
Obama has sensed following the two beheadings that America is less war-weary than it was
and is presumably ready to learn further lessons
yes, military action now, but not us Brits on our own.
It needs countries to pull together. I dread the thought of any war looming.
As part of an alliance then yes. Although one needs to be aware of having enough for anything else that might kick off during the same time.
