Why doesn't the Uk government advise all British subjects to withdraw from these trouble spots?
The US journalist James Foley, who was beheaded by his Isis captors. His employer said: 'There were French, Spanish, Italian, German and Danish hostages released, all of whom spent time with Jim.'
That's the caption at the start of the link. If you hope to get a hostage freed you pay the ransom.

And when ISIS kidnap more and more and more (and they will). Do you still pay?

There is much said on here about Saudi oil funding ISIS, looks like our EU partners are funding them too.
Paying ransoms encourages further kidnappings.

And funds this dispcable group.

But it is probabl cheaper for the French Government to pay up than have to take on the task of confronting I.S. They are will to stump up €40million to save on a costly war.
Vive la France.
as with blackmail eventually the cost becomes too high and when it does they'll have plenty of french/Dutch etc heads to cut off because they learnt early on they get paid for those. It's cold comfort for those effected but in the end the policy of not paying is correct.
eyah and just think with the "new" British hostage,

then Alex Salmond can take charge of getting him back
and that ' ll make a difference !
Does anyone remember Mme Claustre ?

They do and they keep on going AOG - some are journos and need a story of a piece-meal basis, and some dear dear I regret are going to FIGHT !
...and some like this latest British guy are aid workers trying to do some good, they are silly to go but their drive to help against all the odds is admirable.
