Not sure if this has made the media over there, but on American news, a man has been chared with murder after leaving his toddler to die in a hot car.

Tragic of course, but the news follow-up was just staggering -

they showed an invention that beeps a key fob if you leave your car with your child still in the car seat.

Another suggestion is, leave your left shoe under the baby seat, so when you get out, and realise where your shoe is, you remember you put it under the baby seat, and hey presto, you remember to take your baby with you.

I would suggest that anyone who needs these reminders should have their licence revoked immediately, and their child taken into care, since they are patently too stupid to be in charge of either!!!

Negligent homicide would be a more likely charge, they have to be able to prove intent to kill for a murder charge.

Some people are just too stupid.
I have sympathy for your view Andy but few will volunteer information that they are likely to be that distracted from their responsibilities. Anything that helps them cope and avoid a tragedy has to be a worthwhile suggestion.
I agree with old geezer.
Horrible story though it is, how many times has a mum reminisced about the time they accidentally left their baby's in the prams outside shops?

It would seem that temporary "brain farts" affect us all, its just horribly tragic that it had such dire consequences in this instance.
My sis left New baby in pram at shops got in car came home before realizing she'd forgotten him !
People with small children are often tired, stressed, and running late for something. Mistakes can happen.
I too left my baby daughter in her pram outside a shop-43 years ago when we all had the big prams that you couldn't take inside. I was home and unpacking shopping before I realised, small village so they knew who she was, but I didn't half feel a fool.
I left my trike outside a shop once ( 1957)

er, in the UK - manslaughter by gross negligence. Murder not a hope in the usual circumstances.
