The police have just phoned me from outside my house.

They are now on their way to my offices to take a DNA cheek swab for a 30 year old murder enquiry in which they have a full DNA profile of the attacker.

Hopefully the technology is reliable

If not, it's been nice knowing you all

It's a brave double bluff.
A Policemans assurance ...what is that worth these days I wonder ?

they're in Reception!
Do you not think the police can be more trusted than ever now?

How often nowadays do they set people up?
How is Zeul going to get a legal team around him in such a short space of time?
The results of any sample are going to take a while to come through.
Is this the same murder you confessed to using your other username in the Law section?

If the police confiscate you computer... Can I be cheeky and ask them how they are getting on with my missing bike?

That is a very big and dangerous claim to make roy.

Of course I don't have a link For Funks Sake. whoooooooooooooooosh!
ummmm...was Plebgate so long ago that you have forgotten the details ?

Careful Roy, I suspect Noodles is in fact an under cover Ossifer!

Mickey....Plebgate was hardly the same as fitting someone up for murder, and didn't he get off? Unlike all those who spent years in prison for crimes they didn't commit. No comparison really...
Zeuhl didn't say he was being questioned for murder. He's been asked for DNA for elimination purposes.
Juts repling to your post ummmm....perhaps you should have been more specific !
And three Policemen sacked so far in Plebgate ...seems pretty serious to me ummmmm !
The post was about an old unsolved murder. I thought it would be obvious.

Well that was painless - I think the KY Jelly helped.

Just to keep it all 'News' worthy - the police story does check out.

Apparently, because Melanie was raped and murdered there were good attacker samples but DNA technology is only now good enough to assemble them all and produce a complete profile.

I asked them how they knew I was me and they said they hoped I had my driving license - which I didn't. My business partner helpfully pulled a copy of one of our books from the shelf which has author photos on the back cover which they decided would be difficult to fake in the circumstances.

On a legal note, the form i signed said the sample would only be used in this investigation, not applied to the Police database, and then destroyed.

And they will let me know the result; negative by phone, positive (I assume) will be an early morning visit.

Seriously, Melanie's mother is still alive so for the sake of everyone concerned, I hope they get a result soon.
