Whats the best way to make a hole under a path for an electric cable to run through, the path is about 3 inches thick and i have dug to the bottom of it on both sides, the width i need to get through is about 60cms. Should some sort of spike be used to make this hole so i can run my electric tube through it

You could drill it with a large masonary bit. I hope you are using armoured cable and have informed building control first. If doing this yourself they will need to check and pass your work.
I would check with an electrician as I am sure that there is a minumum depth for underground cable and you need the correct armoured stuff as well.

I will be getting a sparky to do it, just wanted to do the ground work myself to save costs and leave rest to him, I used the masonary drill in the end,
