Checked the baking powder container and it said to use within one year of opening, and underneath that was a price sticker from a grocery store that closed 12 years ago!!

Recently I offered my daughter a just out of date baking powder and she turned it down. She told me the components in baking powder do not retain their powers. This is one of the cases where the use by date is relevant.

It just dawned upon me, after this thread sort of went "downhill", that the name of the grocery chain that closed was called "Knob Hill Farms", I kid you not, and it closed fourteen years ago not twelve.
