So, further to my earlier thread, it seems that a sizeable number of people have taken to returning UKIP's fliers at the party's expense - typically wrapped around heavy objects.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/ukips-freepost-address-is-receiving-bricks-and-party-flyers-at-their-own-expense-9304780.html

What I didn't realise, however, is that this actually mimics a local campaign in Nottinghamshire to do the same things to the Lib Dems in 2011.

Do you think this is a valid method of protesting against a party?

Personally, I think it`s rather petty but that`s just my opinion.

trying to bankrupt a party doesn't seem to me to be the way to go, and I hope Ukip have the option of neither collecting nor paying for mail wrapped round bricks. I might consider doing it with a flier that was actually offensive; otherwise I'd prefer to deal with Ukip bumf as with that from any other party: read it or not, keep it or not, as I saw fit. Jolly japes like this don't do much for the democratic process.

jno - the party can cancel its Freepost address (as the Libdems were forced to do). And to be honest I think they probably will in the near future.
they may have done so already, if the address being used is an old one.
I'll be beggared if I am carting bricks to the Post Office for any Political Party.
courier it, Mamya
Mine's stuck in the post box:-(
No, but I think it may be a valid method of protesting against getting a free post service by abusing it.
Yes it is valid. UKIP stoop to lies and half truths to further their agenda A lot of their literature is downright offensive.
Still waiting for mine K !
Yes perfectly valid, and if they stick any of their moronic drivel through my door I will be doing it:)
I wonder how many of these protesters will be voting for parties that have green policies? I`m not sure that sending bricks and the like through the post (with their associated carbon footprint) would be in keeping with that ethos but then again, I doubt that they will think beyond the initial knee-jerk reaction.

Not many would be green voters I'd imagine - simply because there aren't a great deal of green voters.
You don`t have to vote for the green party to be a green voter. The Lib Dems and Conservatives are the green parties around here.
no. very silly ,

UKIP forced to cancel Freepost address after being sent FAECES in the post... http://bit.ly/1jsAL3G
Pathetic. What's wrong in a democracy when parties send you their literature. Read, discard, recycle, destroy whatever...Don't you want to be informed?
Maybe if someone of you had ever lived under a vile dictatorship you might appreciate the value of free speech. Treasure it, don't undermine it.
