Bit of a shock, given his high profile.

high-pressure job?
who ?
And it was only the other day, yesterday I think, that he was reported as saying that MP's should get their full pay rise. Very little on the BBC News website...any other info available as to the cause ?
anneasquith...Who ?...he has hardly been out of the news of late.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union leader, Anne.
I think it's just a union announcement so they may not know the cause
Big fellow, fat, lacked exercise, probably with a high BP or may even had been diabetic............sitting duck for a vascular episode, either in heart or brain.

I rather liked the fellow.
bob crow .

Been confirmed he is dead, although I have not heard anything about the cause. Just comes as something of a shock I suppose, given his high profile and (relatively) young age.

Sorry for the mis-spelling of his name. It should, of course, have been Bob Crow.
On BBC news:

General secretary of the Rail Maritime and Transport union Bob Crow has died aged 52

In a statement on its website, the union said: "It is with the deepest regret that RMT has to confirm that our General Secretary Bob Crow sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

"The union's offices will be closed for the rest of the day and the union will make further announcements in due course."
I did as well Sqad. I know its not popular to like these real lefty types these days but he called a spade a spade, and I rather appreciate that. No "New Labour" for him it seemed. I liked his appearances on Question Time, especially when the Tories put up some toffee-nosed representative at the same time.
52 :(
He said the other day he was going to stay living in his council house till he dies. He was right.
Question Author
He certainly defended his corner and was not afraid to express his views or have a fight :)

The only thing I really disliked about him was his instance upon remaining in a council house - given the scarcity of the housing stock, someone with his earnings should have moved out and freed up the house for someone in genuine need.
Can't really disagree with your there LG...a fair point.
Obviously failed to recover from his recent very expensive holiday in Brazil
rip bob
RIP Bob, I am of course diametrically opposed to unions etc but I'm sad that he's gone at such a young age.
Question Author
I am hearing that he died at Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, from aneurysm followed by massive heart attack.
