/// They added: “The typical fictional homicide is part of a planned series committed by a middle-aged white man or woman who is not intoxicated, sometimes using a bizarre weapon. In contrast, real homicides were almost all single, and were usually carried out by often intoxicated younger men from a more diverse ethnic origin, in an unplanned attack using a kitchen knife. They were also more likely to have a diagnosed mental disorder.” ///

In the quest to include more ethnic minorities actors in such mainly white TV shows such as Midsomers Murders, perhaps these could be cast as killers, so as to correct this inaccuracy?

that was from 2000, not recent, but most of the gun crime we see is drug related.

/// The Independent has a sense of humour. ///

Typical left-wing response, I didn't think that the left-wing had a sense of humour?
they do, they read the Gruniad.

Is Midsomer Murders set in and around London's club scene?

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on how MSM could reflect the story to posted on earlier.

Would you not say that would be a better storyline for say, 'Top Boy'?
it isn't, its set in some fairy tale land that never existed, not even in my grand parents day.

Take it off air and replace it with more sport.
oh no, weekends are bad enough, all day, most days.

No of course it isn't

Well I have never watched 'Top Boy' so I can't comment, but here is the Daily Mail's slant on it, which is absolutely amazing since you and others often criticise the Mail for being racist.

*** All the 'usual suspects' were there in gleeful, unrestrained abundance. Feckless dads, weed-smoking, pimp-rolling hoodies, gratuitous expletives, guns, copious drugs and brutal violence. In fact, such a list would serve as great ammunition for racists. I desperately wanted it to be otherwise, but Top Boy was lazy, unimaginative and, dare I say it, very boring. ***

ten minutes of viewing had me switching that off.

I am confused. If MSM is not set on around London clubland, then what did you mean by:

"*** On Monday, eight people were gunned down outside a London
nightclub. ***

Wow eight people in one night???????????

So maybe Midsomers Murders isn't so unrealistic after all?

But having said that then perhaps it is, because all the killings in that show are committed by whites, so I agree there should be more black actors to make it more realistic."

I'm sure it made sense to you - but I can't see the link. It's like saying "Andre Brevik's murder rampage shows how realistic the current crop of Nordic crime dramas are".

No it doesn't - I think you're trying to shoehorn one of your pet subjects in.

I'm right, aren't I?

Next it'll be Gay Pride on AOG's 'Carousel of Criticism'.
this is London innit, fings like that appen,

as opposed to the fictional midsomer where people get bumped off willy nilly, not likely.
hello, who got zapped.

I would have thought that most would have understood the meaning of this, but having said that there must be a very small minority like yourself who doesn't.

But for your benefit since you are the only one to query this, let me explain:

It has been mentioned that a unrealistic number of killings take place in Midsomer's Murders, well compared to the 'eight in one night', perhaps it isn't so unrealistic after all?
what happened in London was real, whilst Misomer is a fictional place, and even if it were real, its unlikely they would have that level of crime, murders.

This also relates to the BBC's link stating that "The producer of ITV1's Midsomer Murders has been suspended after saying the drama "wouldn't work" if there was racial diversity in the show".

So it makes sense, that since the show's murderers are always portrayed as whites, then let's introduce a little racial diversity here and cast a few black murderers.
AOG

Nope.

Fail.

Absolute fail.

The only way you could establish a link with real life would be to post a link to a story about a multiple murder out in a country area. Say, the Hungerford massacre.

However, that would not support your interest in with all things to do with black people (especially crime, eh?)...which I notice has been recently supplanted with an obsession with gay people.

I am beginning to worry about my combined influence on you.
AOG

Do you think that MSM should be relocated to say, Peckham?

Or do you think that the show should stay located in Midsomer, but introduce a new black character, each week, who would eventually be shown to be the murderer?

I'm sure that there's a certain demographic who would LOVE that idea.

But would that not defeat the purpose of the show though? It being a murder mystery and all?
