Apparently Clegg now thinks he can work with Labour. As he is likely to end up with less than half his present number of seats after next years election, exactly what does he think he can bargain with ? Is there nothing this man won't consider to stay in the limelight ?

One of my favourite Nye quotes :

"The Tories are like rats...you think you have got rid of them but they always come back"

Another one ::

"This island is almost made of coal and surrounded by fish. Only an organizing genius could produce a shortage of coal and fish in Great Britain at the same time.”

Ah...yes, I can see it now emmie...thanks.
read my link, it does have very interesting information of the setting up the the NHS in England.

by the way why is England the only ones that pay for prescriptions?
Question Author
Because the devolved governments of Wales and Scotland have legislated that way emmie. Those governments were brought about by Labour winning the 1997 Election and enacting the referendums. Democracy in motion.
Unlikely that he will be LibDem leader after the Election. And the party will lose many many seats, that they will not be Kingmakers again.
I suppose his political fate will serve to remind us of the truth in the old saying: 'Be careful what you wish for...'
He got his fingertips on the reins of power, but at what cost to the party?
//And the party will lose many many seats//

But will they? Come the General election I suspect many liberal voters will think again. Political wilderness or some chance to get some of their policies in.

Personally I credit liberals with more common sense then to bite off their own nose to spite their face.

Time may prove me wrong of course and I'm sure you will dig this post out to remind me come election time Gromit ;-)

From LibDemVoice.com

// The Lib Dems will feel hard done by, losing our deposit for the eighth time this parliament. Our vote share collapsed, by an even greater proportion than did the Tories’, down from a decent third placed 22% to a fourth place 5%. That clearly isn’t a reflection on our candidate, Mary di Mauro, but on the impact on joining the Coalition, especially in northern areas like Greater Manchester. //

The LibDems were the protest vote. I voted for them at the last election. I will not make that mistake again. UKiP will replace them as a protest vote and will push them into 4th in many constituencies. The sad thing is, judging by the quote above, the LibDems sre resigned to their fate.
The Lib Dems currently hold 56 seats in Westminster. Unless something phenomenal happens, I doubt they'll retain even half of that number at the next general election.
