Do you agree with these proposals?

I think it kinda makes sense really...especially if health trusts can offer free support (patches, gum, inhalers etc).

What do you think?

You worry about your health cd and leave me to mine.

I could do with a stiff drink now and have a fasting blood test tomorrow - aint life a lady dog. Hope that doesn't set off the anti-drinking lobby now ;)
The very people who are so vehemently anti smoking would also take the Ecig's away from us vapours too.

They really do hate to see people getting any kind of pleasure from something they're not.
Smokers pay far more in tax than it costs to treat them so what's the problem? Let them get on with it.
There is nothing worse when visiting a relative, than to be greeted by smokers at the front entrance. The pile of "dog ends" on top of the bin is enough to make anyone ill. It is healthier inside!!!!
Our local hospital has enforced a no smoking ban on the grounds. I think they are finding it difficult to enforce as there are still people smoking in the grounds.
I would ban smoking from Planet earth if I could. Ban and be damned !
I don't smoke, never have, don't like it at all, but will defend anyone's right to smoke as long as it does not affect anyone else. I don't think non smokers should have to walk through others' smoke but do think there should be smoking areas - preferably not immediately outside a door.
It is the logical extension of the current rules and regulations surrounding smoking, and long past due IMO. I would be in favour of such a change.
Provide an area for the smokers, perhaps around the back and accessible for frailer patients. If they refuse to use it then ban it. anyone ignoring the ban is ejected and if they cause a problem then call the Police and prosecute.

It is easy for both to live together but many smokers just think they can do what they like and s*d the rest.

It is debatable whether the tax on cigs does actually cover the very expensive health care caused by it, especially due to the large amount of smuggled baccy.
As Boo says, leave ecigs alone!
Smokers moan when we smoke, then moan about a vapour.

Off for my op in 10 mins. have a good day everyone.
I didn't mention ecigs once in any of my posts B00.
I would allow them, by all means. They were the biggest factor in helping my brother and his wife stop smoking.
In some ways I'm rather jealous, some of the flavours they have sound wonderful! When I stopped I just did it cold turkey, ordinary mints and gum, not nicotine. Smokers have so many alternatives and help in stopping these days I'm amazed that anybody still does, especially at such astronomical prices.
Fair enough Chill, I stand corrected where you're concerned then ;-)

However you can't deny that there is now a movement to ban ECigs in public areas as well.

Very soon we'll need permission from somewhere before we're allowed to fart too.
Could depend on whether or not the farts stink.
I don't deny it at all B00, some are trying to get them banned from certain public areas.
Might have something to do with them possibly being viewed by children, I really have no idea.
I have a young friend who works in a hotel. They do have problem there with the e cigs that look like cigs because, at functions, other guests think that the vapers are smoking real cigs. The reasonable ones complain to the staff who have to check whether the cigs are real or not, and the "less reasonable" (I mean pizzed) guests are liable to make difficulties even violent ones. Its in no way the vapers' fault of course but it would be helpful if they would use devices that are clearly not real ciggies.
Woofy, I imagine most vapours quickly progress to something looking like this

You'd have to be seriously trollied to mistake that for looking like the real thing!
I agree B00, its the lookie likies that cause the problems.
No.
Quoi??
Incisive comment there AOG, well reasoned and thought out! LOL
Smoking prevented me murdering my MIL who would not give me sole time with my OH during his last breaths.
