Why does this case seem to be shrouded in secrecy?
The more we hear about this case the more strange it seems to get.
We are now told that the two people who were arrested and later bailed are most likely illegal immigrants of Asian origin, and that they were first arrested way back in the 70s.

Not sure I understand what you are saying, but I assume that once again you are trying to attach some kind a racist label on me.
But apart from that, we do know the race of those involved, An Irish Woman, a Malaysian Women and a British woman.

I would imagine there are hundreds of illegal immigrants that have been here for years!
I find it a bit confusing, as if these three ladies have been kept as prisoners/slaves for so long, why have the couple been bailed, seeing its such a heinous crime?

Exactly, but according to some posters, we should not ask such questions, we should all be patient and wait until the trial before speculating.

What can I say. If they are illegals and known to the authorities then perhaps their staus changed over the last 40 years for some reason. We shall just have to wait for the facts to be known.

As has been already mentioned, police often do not release all the details of alleged offences when enquiries are ongoing. However….
- The fact that their country of origin has not been made known leads me to believe they are not UK nationals. (If they were UK born and bred that would almost certainly be made known, as it is when suspected jihadists who were born in the UK are)).
- The fact that “community leaders” have been involved in discussions with the police and that the matter is being treated as “sensitive” leads me to assume likewise. (White UK residents are not usually afforded the luxury of having their “community leaders” liaise with the police after they have been arrested and such matters involving them are not usually considered “sensitive“).
So, whilst I am not a gambler I would wager two things if I were:
1. The people in question are not UK nationals and are almost certainly of Asian origin. (about four to one on).
2. Unless restrictions have been placed on their travel - and possibly even if they have - they are unlikely to answer their bail as I imagine even as we speak arrangements are being made for them to leave the country. (About even money).
Quite why this country sees fit to treat such serious allegations with “sensitivity” (unless it is towards the alleged victims) or why it is deemed necessary to consult “community leaders” over such issues is quite beyond my understanding.

NJ, it's not just serious allegations that are treated with such sensitivity. I've seen this happen time and time again with core crime where 'community leaders' and senior offices are called in. A common one is when members of certain groups get arrested for domestic violence and others from the same communities attend station front counters getting very aggressive (which is an offence) shouting the usual racist slurs at passing officers and allowed to continue. Traffic offences seems another one where similar aggressive protest are allowed to continue and officers being told not to issue tickets in the future to certain groups. The list is endless.

This is a high profile case. Unless they are Saudi Royalty, they will not evade justice. I am surprised at NJ for posting such utter nonsense.

The item you posted, hc, has nothing to do with allegations being treated with “sensitivity”.
Just looking at this matter alone (but it is by no means unique) it has constantly been emphasised (and not just in the Daily Mail) that this is a sensitive issue and that community leaders have been consulted by the police and “other agencies” - whoever they might be. How many times do you hear those phrases used when white people are under investigation? Perhaps you could provide some examples.
As far as their absconding goes, Gromit, I’m not suggesting they will be smuggled out in a diplomatic bag. And whilst I’m not suggesting it’s a certainty (hence my odds) I’d not be at all surprised if they were not around when next required. Time will tell.
