/// Apparently the subtlety of the humour on this thread has escaped you - ? ///

No I am all for a little humour, it is just sheer hypocrisy that I take exception to.
Well said Svejk but you know it is counted as "only light humour" when the liberal-left make homophobic 'humorous' remarks.

Regarding your second paragraph, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Why does it always have to be personal with you?

You joined this thread to make a personal criticism.

Just...please...stop doing it.

Really - you have a way of turning other people's threads nasty.
Question Author
Seriously AOG

You've developed a really horrible nasty bitter streak recently...

You actually joined this thread simply to play the victim.

I don't care any more, I really don't. You're taking things personally when people aren't even flipping talking about you.

Do you see how irritating that is?
Svejk - "AOG. I can't help suspecting that if you had posted the first 'funny' we would have been inundated with outraged demands for an apology and/or your head."

Why would you suspect that? If you imagine that there is some sort of left-wing / liberal conspracy waiting to have a pop at AOG - and he does - then you are completely mistaken.

A long history of interaction with AOG has taught me that he is perfectly capable of making provocative statements that draw swift redress. He doesn't need to wait to be 'picked on' - he will prompt some rigourous debate as a matter of course.

Nothing wrong with that - but please don't assume he is a 'victim' - nothing could be further from the truth!
sp1814

How many times do you see my name mentioned on this site, with some skit or another even when I am not joining in the debate?

If you knew me personally you would see I was not an unpleasant person, it is only being forced to defend my self that has made me what I am on AnswerBank ie the same as most of you.

There have been many on this site who have come out and criticised certain ABers for picking solely on me.

No - you do not need to defend yourself. No-one on this thread mentioned you, but you had to join in and start making digs, saying that people were being homophobic.

No they were not.

I would suggest that you are finding homophobia where it does not exist. Mild teasing and puns are not homophobia. I think I know what I'm talking about.

I was not making digs as you stated, but criticising those who in my opinion were being rather disgusting in their humour relating to the stereotype actions of homosexuals, well that is the last time I step in defence of homosexuals such as yourself, because it now seems apparent that certain people can switch their 'offended feelings' on and off at their choosing.

Also making fun of someone who is different from others, in this case sexually is quite in order is it, therefore I assume you also class making fun of someone because their skin is a different colour is also only mild teasing?

I will try and put both of these to a test sometime much later, just to see the reaction that I will get, in the meantime I will copy this thread for future reference, please don't let me down.

The point sp is making is that a little gentle humour among people who know each other well enough to know there is no malice, is a very long way from vicious abuse from strangers.

So that is the difference - gentle teasing is not homophobia, homophobia is not teasing - the difference is there on this thread.
@AoG I am still puzzled by which comments you believe were homophobic? You were asked this before, quite early on in the thread, but you never did clarify.

Why don't you identify which posts you consider homophobic, and why? Maybe you could highlight those posts that you think reflect some hypocrisy? Perhaps, if you are that disgusted by these allegedly homophobic comments, you should express that concern to AB Editor, get these "disgusting" posts removed?

Good to see you jumping in and taking up the cudgels in defence of a minority within our society that is often the subject of physical and verbal abuse though, AoG. That's very enlightened of you.

I would not want you to think though that light -hearted commentary, and the use of irony and stereotype gives carte blanche to those seeking an excuse to exercise their prejudices without restraint though.

I am sure we will all be waiting with baited breath to see the unfolding of your "test" in later posts, AoG.
You're not going to win AOG.
It appears to be a matter of interpretation. Obviously their light hearted stereotyping and lampooning will become your exercising prejudice without restraint.
Svejk - AOG already thinks that the 'left wingers' on here are in a cabal designed to attack and upset him at every turn - he doesn't need encouragement!!!

Debate is about an exchange of viewpoints, it is not a war - there are no 'winners' on here - just a chance to see something from another point of view.
// I was not making digs as you stated, but criticising those who in my opinion were being rather disgusting in their humour relating to the stereotype actions of homosexuals //

Come off it AOG, we're all bending over backwards to avoid being offensive.
Andy. I wouldn't say AOG has been singled out for bullying. Its just he puts his head over the parapet more than anyone else dares to.
Whether its a paucity of original thought, a pack mentality or simply that you've managed to frighten contrary views away, the lib/left do come across as a pack of bullies.

It's a microcosm of the world at large.

Actually all the lefties think that the site's full of right wing bullies as well. In fact, everyone think's there are too many people who don't agree with them, and not enough people who do.

AOG does get singled out for attention because he keeps banging on about the same things. It's become like a long running joke.
Personally I hope he continues to do so - he's started some of the more interesting debates in the news section.
