Yes, 237J and your mother was living in a backward country; some people here are still living in it, as though nothing had changed, and think that someone 'admitting' they are homosexual is some narcissistic, artistic, extravagance.

// First you wish to gag the press and now you wish to gag me //

I would not try to gag the press because that would be a completely futile thing for an individual to do. An independently regulated press would not be gagged, it would be freed, but would have to operate within the laws of the land, and if it didn't, there would have to be comeback for the injurred party.

AOG,
And I do not want to gag you. Anyone on this site should be free to link to whatever newspaper site they want to, to make a point. They do not have to like that newspaper, believe every word of it prints, and they can have pointed put faults in that newspapers reports in the past, but they can still link to it if they like.
Linking to the Daily Mail is not an admission that the aper is great or better than any other paper. I use it in links because narrow minded people such as you are more likely to believe it if it is a Daily Mail link than a Daily Mirror one.

Tee-hee. You are a laugh, Gromit.
Go on, tell us who said it.
237j...I agree with fred...there are still ignorant people in Britain that would gladly back any move to persecute gay people again. But I am unaware that Britain ever tried to identify people as gay at airports, even when homosexuality was illegal over here.

I retract nothing from my original post. These countries are not democratic and they persecute anybody that disagrees with their narrow, backward religious views. Its now 2013, not 1013, and its completely unacceptable for any country to behave in this way.

My other point still stands...I am at a loss to understand why anybody would want to visit these places, unless they had no choice.

Just a point of clarification. I didn't see any properly homophobic content in the responses - just jokes.

AOG...had I reported any of the jokes in the first couple of pages of this thread, anyone could have accused me of being over-sensitive. Some of the comments were funny and some made me roll my eyes in a 'good grief' kind of way.

Incidentally, I have no idea why you posted the link to the Daily Mail site. There was really no reason to.
You know those metal detecting arches you walk through at the airport?
They have developed one of those that detects gayness.
Thanks for the tip ludwig.

By definition, if i am going through an airport, I am on my way to somehwere i wish to visit, so i usually have a smile on my face.]

I will remember to stitch a glum expression in place in future.
It is possible for straight people to get caught by it. I had to go back twice to stop it going off. First time to take my belt off, second time to shave my moustache.
Me, too, Ludwig............;o)
^ I was going to say, a moustache is always likely to set it off, irrespective of sex. :o)

Oh so you wouldn't see any stereotyping jokes about Black people as racist then?

Come back Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson, all is forgiven.

I've had mine for years, triggs........;o)

A little light humour which is obviously appreciated by our gay friends here on AB is something of a stretch from the bile and guff spouted by 70's commedians to a society steeped in racism and homophobia.

Apparently the subtlety of the humour on this thread has escaped you - ?
I do find it refreshing that everybody has agreed (sort of) that the border gaydar scheme is illogical and bizarre.

I find it horrific that death is the punishment for being gay in any country. So much for our species being civilised.
You know those wands they scan up and down your body and they make a noise like this ..ooooo000OOOOOOO000oooo

Gaydars are very similar except they're pink and fluffy and when they go ..ooooo000OOOOOOO000oooo - it sounds alot camper.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry at such idiocy.
Whatever system they have we should get hold of one and use it to negatively screen all TV chat show hosts.

Oh hang on ... that would just leave us Jonathan Woss and Alan Tit-chmarsh!
AOG. I can't help suspecting that if you had posted the first 'funny' we would have been inundated with outraged demands for an apology and/or your head.
Let's hope this thread is a precedent and we don't have to put up with any more 'faux-outrage', usually from the liberal-left, which they employ to beat anyone who disagrees with them.
Why not spread gayness (happiness) around instead...
