Just noticed society favours some more than others AOG ?
I need a discount to stop us elderly folk being attacked.
As if any girl who goes to the trouble of dressing for a night out clubbing is going to worry about the taxi fare at the end of the evening.
Well, in my day (60's) I have gone out dressed in less than the dresses photographed in that article and been quite safe in the King's Road Chelsea, but I do think that there were different expectations of sexual activity then even though it was the swinging sixties.
Will scantily clad blokes get discount too?
I am not quite sure how to put this and I absolutely agree that the defence that "she/he was asking for it by being dressed/acting like that" is NEVER acceptable but I am not sure that its the council or the taxi driver's duty to "nanny" adults who don't take care of themselves.
Maybe the cabbies will like to offer reduced fares to increase trade, maybe they won't want to increase the number of times that they have to hose the cab out?

Well, it might save money in the long run.....from the Police budget, etc.

One might be tempted to ask "Should the elderly enjoy free public transport?"..........if one wanted to play Devil's Advocate.
Different subject. Taxis are in demand late at night. Running empty trains/busses is in no one's interest.
different issue JTH, the elderly don't deliberately behave (in general) in ways that put themselves at risk.
I took the view that the OP was regarding one group (scantily-dressed women) receiving preferential treatment...........and, as Devil's Advocate, merely extended the principle. :o)
No, if you go for a night out you should make sure you've got enough cash for the cab ride home.
morning jth you the devils advocate! never lol xx
There's no room for a credit card in them pants ...
but the justification for the preferential treatment is different, therefore no comparison.
yes boxy, we always made sure that we had "mad money' stashed when we went out so that if the night ended in needing to get home alone, we could do so safely. Do folk not do that now?

Wouldn't this encourage girls to go out scantly clad so as to obtain cheap taxis fares?
do they need encouragement? i wonder if us oldies would get cheap fares if we went out scantily clad?
....what about us scantily clad blokes!
Maybe people should be taught that no matter what someone is wearing it is NEVER an invitation to attack them!!

May I have a chop at this Devil's Advocate malarkey?

In the interests of equality why not also include LGBT people, Black people, and Ginger Haired people, aren't all these also liable from attack, maybe not sexual but you get the gist??
covered in my post at 10.37, TTT.

/// Maybe people should be taught that no matter what someone is wearing it is NEVER an invitation to attack them!! ///

Yes very good sentiment, but in this non-utopian world that we live in, how could any of us teach some what's is right from wrong?
I don't think many people get attacked because of what they are wearing tbh. Rape and sexual assault tends to be about power and control. People in jeans get raped...
