The Attorney General has referred Hall's sentence of 15 months, for 14 indecent assaults on girls, to the Court of Appeal. No comment so far on AB, so is nobody surprised? What do you think he should get now? I think 3 years is in order, his guilty pleas notwithstanding

I prefer to let courts and judges rule on this. I don't believe it serves much purpose for anyone to sit here in judgment handing out hypothetical justice
Just my opinion
Regarding the 9 year old girl, the offence was putting his hand up her skirt.

I'm not making light of this, it is repugnant, but it is a very different offence to rape.

I'll let the courts decide.
I totally agree that there are different 'degrees of seriousness' of offences. I also know that 'more minor' abuse can affect a person's whole life.
'More minor' doesn't explain what I meant at all.
Did he perhaps put his hand up her skirt because he thought he might have left his keys there do you think or was it to fondle a pre-pubescent child? To be honest I have more of a problem with his lesser behaviour with such a young child than with his graver behaviour with a girl of 15.
You explained that much better than I did Sharingan, thank you.

doesnt he have to be sentenced according to the tariffs at the time he did them ?

I note that Eddie Shah has been acquitted of rape this evening

The convention is that the maximum sentence at the time of the offence is not exceeded but there is nothing to stop consecutive sentences, each within that maximum, being imposed
yes there is, if they didnt 'do' consecutive sentences for this crime
at the time....
Ever since these enquiries began t.v. personalities transgression's have come to the fore. However I would ask why until the Saville enquiries began nothing was mentioned over many years. Are some of these "victims" looking for money? Meanwhile, Jimmy Saville remains dead.
