daisya - unfortunately having been born in England, he will argue that he IS one of our own.
Yes sp I know but not in my eyes if one spouts off against the basic decent thought of this island. Sorry but just my opinion..for what it is worth. Get rid of those who hate this country to that extent..we do not need them here.
i agree, even if he is British if he wants to harm the country arrest him or deport him, yet the government do not seem to be doing anything apart from interviewing him, showing him in the media as the so called "Preacher" of Islam and giving him benefits.
I find Anjem Choudary, his views and his Islamic faith, disgusting and vile to the very core!!

I really dont see why any civil person would stand up and be proud to be called a Muslim, Its stinks!!!

Im not saying that all Muslims are bad but I cant understand why they follow such a filthy barbaric faith!!!

Ed, Ban me if you like but it is the truth!!!!
than you, like others, have fallen into the trap of believing what people like anjem choudary want you to believe.

Kosmos, I'm with you all the way on that one!! :o)

Lightbulb, //than you, like others, have fallen into the trap of believing what people like anjem choudary want you to believe. //

Most sensible people know precisely what he is, but other Muslims, you included, haven't exactly shown Islam in the best light in the past, so that's something you might like to think about.
now what have i done naomi, apart from criticize you? oh, hang on, thats enough for you to go on, right?
Lightbulb, I haven't noticed you criticising 'me' - until your last post. What are you talking about?
But why do they give filth and scum like him the oxygen of publicity ?
I watched this man live last night on Newsnight. He disgusts me, and also the other two Muslims that appeared with him. How Kirsty Walk kept her temper I'm not sure....by a superhuman effort I suspect. The man was a complete T**T ( sorry Ed )
Mikey, why the other two Muslims that appeared with him?
Chill

Your cutesy analogy doesn't really work does it?

Choudhury (and many other British Muslims) were born here.

So it wasn't a 'neighbour's BBQ' that you had to travel to despite not being invited to was it? You were already there.

Still, nice try at some covert (though ill thought through) racism
It's a bit of a jounalistic game isn't it though?

We can play it on the other side too

Let's see would you call this abhorant? would you condem it?

"Still, nice try at some covert (though ill thought through) racism"

amazing how some people distort things on here
what a pathetic statement
Jake, for goodness sake put a sock in it with the drone stikes. War is war and war produces casualties on all sides. This is not war - it is barbaric, pre-meditated, slaughter.
Tell the kids

Well lets see British soldier goes out and stabs an Afghan child and gets 18 months

So on one hand they actually killed this guy, on the other he wasn't a child

what shall we say? Three times as bad - shall we give them 5 years?

Doesn't the stench of the double standards get to you?
Naomi...the other Muslim, the chap was clearly embarrassed by the man in question, the lady less so but, to be fair, she didn't really have much chance to participate.

There is a current conversation here on AB about tolerance. I support free speech, something that doesn't happen in all Muslim countries around the world. But Anjem Choudary is testing that tolerance to the limit.

I just hope that the relatives of the poor soldier wasn't watching Newsnight last night. I am reminded of the Question Time that occurred directly after 9/11, when there was an ex-USA Ambassador was on the program. He was almost in tears when a group of Muslim people in the audience also refused to abhor the events of 9/11.

If these people like Islamic law and its more unsavoury aspects so much, why don't they go and live in Saudia Arabia ? Could it be that their kind of opposition wouldn't be tolerated ?

There is a photo of the soldier on the front of every newspaper this morning. He looked so smart and handsome in his uniform. He also looked about 15 or 16 years old. He could be anybodies younger brother, or nephew, or son.

A truly disgraceful act, and Anjem Choudary, using the tolerance that Britain provides, has only made it worse.
naomi...I have just realised that you may have misinterpreted my original post. I meant, of course, that Anjem Choudary disgusted and embarrassed the other two Muslims on the program. I think that they could see years of hard ecumenical work to explain Islam disappearing in front of their eyes.

But, just as in the case of the Leader of the BNP being invited on to Question Time, Anjem Choudary has only shown how foolish he and his extremist friends are. Still don't understand though how Kirsty kept her temper ............Paxo might very well have stopped sneering and started throttling !
Oh dear Zeuhl, we have suffered a nasty paper cut today, haven't we?

Just so we're clear, my post wasn't aimed at Choudry, but thanks for the very misguided guess.

Still suffering from that superior and dismissive attitude too? Not to worry, it'll pass one day.
