Hi,
I'm keeping out of the big debates but could someone please answer the above question.
This has been really bugging me all morning and may have been answered else where, but according to all the reports I have read the victim was just wearing a 'Help for Heroes' sweat shirt. Could have not just been anyone?

Sorry if this seems trivial.

good question!

Also, ive been puzzling how long these two individuals were driving round with a bag of weapons in their car looking for a target. My question like you think yours is is inconsequential really, but one ive pondered none the less.
Just a guess;
Near the Barracks
Haircut
Bearing
They might have even seen him leave the Barracks
Glad someone else has asked this. I was thinking this last night, but was a bit worried about asking, in case it seemed insensitive/non important.

My only guess is that perhaps they'd been following him and seen him come from the barracks?

Hmmm, seems we've all been thinking upon the same lines.

I just made me think when I heard on the news this morning that soldiers have been told that it would be best not to wear uniform outside of their barracks that it won't really help them anyway :0(

RIP young man

I read somewhere (not sure where now) that they'd followed him from the barracks, but that can surely only be speculation.. I assume cctv will bear that out or not.
His clothing. Boots, trousers. Possibly seen leaving the barracks.

Even if he wasn't a soldier, he was wearing a T-Shirt supporting UK soldiers, so I guess that would be good enough for them.

Thank you all for helping to make a little sense of it for me.

According to an eye witness, they turned right, drove across the road and crashed.

If you know the area, and I do, turning right into that road, Artillery place, means you are driving towards the barracks. I have a horrible suspiscion (completly unfounded) they targeted him because he was wearing a help for Hero's T Shirt.

What worrys me is the way it was classified so quickly as "terrorist" and why COBRA was convened. There is something we are not being told here.

The murdering B$£"&^% strike me as unorganised chancers, no one has come out in support. Also as far as I am aware an eye for an eye etc comes from the bible not the quran.

In that street about 400 yards further is the Kings Arms pub which was bombed by the IRA ( Guildford 4)
I think just wearing a Help the Heroes shirt would be enough for some fanatics
For fanatical Islamic terrorists to start quoting the Bible seems like they might not have been the brightest buttons in the tin.
Police now searching one of the attacker's family's home in Saxilby near Lincoln - see my other thread in News for links.
Something was said by one tv reporter yesterday that "these two" meaning the two men, had come "under the radar" before...so maybe Dave they convened COBRA because they knew something already? Just speculation on my side but wondered if this is relevant.

I think for me langara, you have hit the nail on the head and said what I didn't want to admit to thinking.
I know conspiracy theories will abound and we may never know the truth.

All I see and know is that a young life has been lost and I am not ashamed to say I have cried for this young man who I do not even know.

They may well have been stalking the victim for weeks. They may have known him by sight, may have seen him leaving the barracks on other occasions, may have seen him in uniform on other occasions. They may have had several possible victims in mind, all of whom they would have identified well in advance as soldiers. How many fellow-fanatics are there, who shared in these identification processes, who are still at large, still with murderous intent ?
DG, your not on your own, I was crying watching the news last night, I had to come off FB as I was sick to death of that photo of the savage clogging up my newsfeed. The news was on in the background and a couple of minutes ago I think someone said they were known to the authorities, that's why it may have been branded a terrorist attack quite quickly.

To get back to your question about how did they know he was a soldier, I thought the same thing.

Soldiers have been told not to wear their uniform in the street but reports suggest they are still doing it, lets hope they stay safe.
Davethedog, was it not the IRA unit captured after the Balcombe St siege that bombed the bar and not the Guilford4?
The clue is in the name...

'Guilford Four' not 'Woolwich Four'.
I too cried watching the news, dont think Ive ever seen anything like it in my life.
Seems obvious to me...baldric has the answer !
In reality these stupid Muslim terrorists can attack just about anybody they please, in an open society like Britain. They can pop up whenever and wherever they like, jump up and down, jabbering at high speed and then proceed to murder whoever takes their fancy. The don't appear to understand logic or rational, so I'm nor sure how we are supposed to stop them. Britain isn't a police state, and is governed by consent, not by force. Good intelligence would seem to be the only answer. There have been a few high-profile cases recently where terrorist cells have been intercepted before they strike, but sadly not in this case it would seem. But apart from arresting everybody in Britain who isn't white, Anglo-Saxon and Christian, and dumping them at Calais, I can't see what else there is to be done.
