£43 million worth of ice!

The criminality aside I am always grudgingly admiring of those who carry out such audacious raids without violence, bloodshed or menace.

Best of luck to them....or not?

It shows a certain degree of skill and planning to carry off a heist like this without casualties. Non the less its a serious crime and if caught their merits as clever theives wont matter diddly!!
I have to agree with jd, also the report states that the robbers were well armed and who knows just how lucky it was that there weren't a few bodies left behind. With that amount of money involved anything could have happened.
Did it involve blowing off any van doors?

No Zeuhl, biggest casualty appears to have been a chain link fence!
Without menace?

So what do you think they said to the guys loading the diamonds at the time?

"Excuse me could we just mind those for you?"
how can they shift that amount? it'd have to be in small doses surely?
And if one of the gang wants his dosh pronto, then there might be bloodshed afterall :-(
hope someone was insured.. according to news just on it's somewhere around 32 million quids worth, that lot would have kept Liz Taylor happy for a while..
I am sure there will have been plenty of menace and no bloodshed is probably down to the gurds not putting up a fight.

I would think it fairly easy to shift this lot, just pop next door to Holland. They wont get anywhere near the value but even on 10% it is over £3M. I'm pretty sure with all this planning, disposal was also pre-organized.

Personally I hope they are caught, they are dangerous not clever. Next time people may not be so lucky.
Very clever and probably the only reason there was no violence was because no one resisted, it could have been very different if they had, I hope they go to prison for a very long time if caught.
You have to love hollywood films that glamorise these types of crimes and gives the general public a rose tinted vision of of these hard done by robin types that really loved their mothers.

Some of the security guards who were involved may possibly be so frightened they may never work again and go through life with psychological problems after this as you would to if a heavily armed gang threatened to blow you up or decapitate their heads, or have their famillies and kids murdered if they never played ball but then hollywood never shows you this.

"The criminality aside I am always grudgingly admiring of those who carry out such audacious raids without violence, bloodshed or menace. "

Many of these types of crimes are usually done by already rich criminals who have money and resources to carry out crimes like these.

So do you have more respect for, the greedy rich criminal who already has more money then he could ever spend or the poor the handbag snatcher who needs money for food?

I never mentioned the word respect Ronnie10, just have to admire someone who has the cojones to pull this off without anyone getting shot, stabbed or pistol-whipped.
Had they been caught (or indeed if they are) they'll be looking at 25 I would guess.
Respect? No. Admiration for doing something ballsy knowing the consequences?
A little, begrudgingly as I said.
i confess after reading the types of weapons they were carrying this could have gone spectacularly wrong, so not so much admiration, and as the article mentioned the police are looking at whether it was an inside job?
