20 years hard labour, or 6 months at ford open prison, where he can come and go as he pleases. personally i would give him the former, but what do i know.

A bit ironic that the Police have prosecuted this case so vigorously in light of the Plebgate affair that's ongoing.
what happens to his ex wife i wonder, she is also in court?

it'll probably be the latter of em10's suggestions but maybe him protesting his innocence and letting it drag on to this stage might count against him
Speeding is a relatively trivial offence (we've all done it?), but perverting the course of justice isn't, I imagine a 6 month sentence would restore the dignity of the court. More would be unjustified, since he is in double jeopardy - he must lose his seat in parliament. C'est la vie.
