I have the most awful guests at present, step son's mates and step daughter's boyfriend. They have been here since Saturday and I am so very fed up with their bad habits, they are driving me potty. The language they use is horrible, littered with swear words like it is part of normal vocabulary. Their habits regarding meal times are disgusting, they leave plates, glasses etc all over the house....and fruit skins !! They are not children as such , they age between 16 and 20 !! I am itching to clean around them but I can't as they are nocturnal creatures and sleep all day. Gawd blimey , while I am not OCD house proud, ( used to be ) they are like yucky untrained beasties. I bet the day they go home I will be laid up and unable to do a deep clean. Rant over. !! What should I treat myself to if I endure the visit without mishap ( to me or them ) ? !

Change your locks.
Have a word with your OH about this and about how to tackle it.....without losing your rag.....he may be feeling the same way and should have words with his children.
so they're paying room and board i take it? who's feeding em all this food if not? kick em out
They need their marching orders!
I've heard it said that houseguests should be treated like cheese....any left after three days should be thrown out!
Pack their bags ,tell them to feck off,go out and have a good meal.
don't endure it
Tell them to take their plates glasses etc to the kitchen and put them in the dishwasher. Tell them to dispose of the fruit peelings appropriately. Do the housework as you would normally do, just because they want to sleep until mid afternoon doesn't mean you should put your routine on hold....who knows they might sleep through anyway!

Treat? Open a bottle of wine and drink until you don't care!
Oh Flump I feel for you. happened to me twice. The first time many, many years ago with ex's friends. Stood it til i cried then booked into a B&B til ex got rid of them.
Second was my fault.....friends but so annoying. Had to stick it out but won't happen again.
Weekend at a spa on OH's credit card? In the meantime your choice of music....loud. Pop out for an hour...come back distraught.....you've been to the doctor and been diagnosed with a virus that causes impotence in men.
If they haven't gone by Friday I'll think of something else. x
Do them a packed lunch wrapped in road maps.
I would have told them what the house rules etiquette was long before now.
*and* etiquette. ^^^
Tell the step kiddies that, though they are guests, your home is not a doss house and you expect it-and you -to be treated with more respect. If they cannot clear their messes their belongings will find their way onto the front lawn.
Then get the hoover out tomorrow morning and keep it going out side their rooms for as long as possible.
yeah and put some loud music on the stereo, that should work, put some buble on or something
better still switch your internet off, they'll soon beggar off
Some years ago my sisters son, who was in the army, turned up at her house with half a dozen or so of his mates on the way to some where. For three days they took over the house, coming and going at all hours. They also chipped in to buy food, did all the cooking and them disappeared in the middle of the night leaving the house spotless and a huge box of chocolates behind.
Paddy....is your nephew married? Only my single daughter.......... ;-)
He was for nearly 16 years but they split up a couple of months before Christmas, so if she lives any where in Devon you never know.
Aaaaaaaa! How does Honiton sound????? Whoopeeeeee!

People, as always , I feel as if a weight has been lifted by talking about it. Your answers are welcome and constructive. The beasts have paid their way...so no cost to us, I haven't known youngsters like this sit together for hours and play either Xbox or magic ( card game) . They are so sloppy. I have told him indoors, if they come again , I am off to his mother's ! I don't drink much, however I had a brandy last night !. Their idleness and habits are driving me nuts and my OH says it is doing him in too ! Yet he won't holler at them ! Doh.
