look at this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2252290/Jacintha-Sadanha-Nurse-answered-hoax-Duchess-Cambridge-attempted-kill-before.html Until now it almost seemed like the Media weren't going to be happy until the DJ's had also topped themselves. Are they vindicated now?

Some posters on here did mention she must have had other issues.
Just handy to blame the presenters.
No, I don't think they are altogether, but this does bear out those who thought there was more to this than met the eye, that the telephone call business might have been the last straw for Jacintha.
Dare I say, what was she doing with such a responsible job? I thought anyone around anyone royal would have been looked at very carefully. Looks as if part of the fault lies with whoever gave her the job.
I said at the time, and I reiterate it now - committing suicide over an embarrassing prank did not seem like an appropriate reaction. It just seemed way out of scale to the level of embarrassment the woman must've felt.

Now hearing about her medical past, the suicide makes more 'sense'. It sounds as if anything could've sent her over the edge.
As flimsy reasons for committing suicde go, this was by far the flimsiest. All she did was answer the phone and patch it through to someone else who were also taken in. She herself did not divulge any medical information. She did her job correctly and did nothing wrong.

She was obviously unstable and the revelation that this was her third attempt to some extent takes the pressure off of the Australian DJs. They were unlucky in that their prank was answered by someone who should not have been working on the ward caring for our future King's wife.

It really was quite obvious that she had other problems and that the 'prank' was the last straw for her. The DJ's and the radio station are still a bunch of muppets, the hospital still needs to address its own policies and procedures (as if they have them then they're clearly not being followed), but I don't think anyone is responsible for this woman's death. She clearly had other issues and it was just extremely unfortunate that she picked up the phone that day rather than someone in rather more robust health.
just shows what happens if you hoax people you don't know: they may be fragile and kill themselves. I can't see that this vindicates anyone.
The two DJ's have not grasped the basic concept that every action has its consequences.
I have no sympathy for them and the crocodile tears they are shedding. The are only upset because their jobs are down the pan.
Did they not think that staff at the hospital could have been disciplined or lost their jobs over this?
They still have blood on their hands no matter how mentally fragile the nurse was.
All my sympathies lie with the family of the nurse
Nah, that's not fair Mrs O and jno. There are really strict procedures regarding giving out information on patients in place in the NHS which ALL staff are aware of, I fail to see why the private sector should be any different, especially given the importance of this particular patient. There needs to be a review at the hospital for certain. And while I have no sympathy for the DJ's, I also don't believe there is any blood on their hands at all, that's too harsh... Are we to all watch our P's & Q's just because one person might be fragile? That's just not possible. I don't advocate being cruel or unkind to people, but I also don't think these DJ's set out on their prank with cruelty or malice in mind; the worst part would have been if they had found out that Kate had had a miscarrage or some such thing and that is what the hospital and royal security need to be thinking about and reviewing.

It is extremely sad that this nurse took her own life, especially as she was not even the person taht gave out information, but it is not the fault of any one person. It is an unfortunate set of circumstances instigated by an irresponsible DJ and radio station, but at no point could anyone have foreseen this. It is extremely sad but while the DJ's are not vindicated, neither are they responbsible and to make them so seems to be to just scape goating.
China, well said, I agree with you entirely about protocols on patient information. The DJs thought it would be a laugh, with no though of any consequence for the recipients.
So it was obviously only a matter of time before she committed suicide anyway?

OTT outcry towards the prank call put into context now
So they pushed a vulnerable person over the edge. doesn't change anything.
exactly, zed.
The real victims are the children she left without a mother due to her selfish action
That's uncalled for, Joe. People who take their own lives do so because they can see no end to their misery and suffering.
......and cause a lifetime of misery and suffering to the loved ones they leave behind
joeluke - I really hope that you never get to the point in your life where suicide appears to be your only option.
It should not have gone this far in the first place, who should be taking the blame over this unfortunate fiasco are the security services.
You speaking from experience, Joe?

I lost my younger brother to suicide 9 years ago and have long accepted he made his own choice. Yes I still miss him and I wish things could have panned out differently but I won't allow his passing to ruin my life.

You don't do sympathy, do you, Joe....
Radio DJs have done this stuff all over the world for decades with nothing worse than some embarrassment as a result.
It's the radio equivalent of Candid Camera, Beadle's About, You've Been Framed etc etc but now will be categorised as too risky because of the tragic outcome of a coincidence.
The woman was clearly not of sound mind or she would still be with her family.
