There are so many people now using social media to have a go (cowardly as it is usually faceless) that the CPS now looks to raise the bar so they wont get prosecuted.

Is this right?

Not sure that the comment that the Woods 'Muamba' case wouldn't be prosecuted. The CPS must have decided that whatever it was,it was sufficiently offensive for it to be in the public interest to prosecute and the court decided it was worth jail.

The DPP is more concerned that every insulting or obscene remark, such as would never be considered worthy of prosecution if it were uttered in a crowd, should not occupy the courts.

The 'blow up the airport' case was ludicrous on its own facts but unfortunately was at a time when any joking remark involving a terrorist attack or the like hit a nerve.
Yes, it is right.
It is good to see that the issue of 'fair comment' is being addressed judicially.
It is not only on sites such as Twitter or Facebook that has a problem with users being abusive and offending to others, AnswerBank has it's fair share of such trolls.

It seems like it is the signs of the times in which we now live, some are not prepared to enter into reasonable debate with anyone who happens to hold opposite views from themselves, without first being rude and offensive.
Yes AOG. I know exactly which two you're talking about.

I'm surprised at your comments about AB, AOG. The people who post here seem to be the embodiment of good manners, though some are also clearly not the full shilling.
