good thing i know who you mean, rather cryptic for this early.
for now....theyll get rid of him not if but when, sooner rather than later

and hopefully his whole family who are all living on benfits
he is under house arrest, 16 hours a day under curfew, not sure about the rest of the family, he is banned from the internet too.
Oh damn did i miss the criminal court trial that found him guilty?
/// Labour’s slavish obsession with ‘yuman rites’ turned Britain into a happy hunting ground for terrorists from all over the world. Other countries have no difficulty kicking out undesirables. But the Left-wing legal establishment in Britain takes a perverse delight in providing succour to international terrorists and other assorted foreign crooks. ///

/// In the ten years he has spent making a mockery out of British justice, Abu Qatada is thought to have cost taxpayers an estimated £3million – in legal aid, prison costs, benefits and other payouts. ///

/// He will now return to live in North London with his wife and five children on state handouts said to total £1,000 a month. ///

/// As well as the £5million a year cost of 24-hour surveillance, the Government will have to foot the bill for translation from Arabic of all the calls he makes from his home to monitor his communications. ///

Plus of course his wife, five kids, and himself live in a £1 million house, benefit of the British taxpayer.
The value of his house means nothing.
Not 'his' house. The value of the 'council house' he lives in means nothing.
His only crime, as far as I can see, is that he's a troublesome priest. I sometimes think that if the restrictions on his liberty which he has to put up with could have been applied to some here in NI years ago we might have come to peace much sooner.

Yes, if you wasn't in Jordan at the particular time when he was found guilty of crimes committed (ironically enough) in Britain.
ummmm

/// The value of his house means nothing. ///

It certainly would to someone more deservedly of it.
mmm am i right in thinking all the evidence against this guy was extracted under torture?
Gromit
It would be easier to deport Abu Qatada if:-

We arrested him for a crime.
We charged him.
A jury convicted him
And a judge sentenced him.

None of those things have happened.
"mmm am i right in thinking all the evidence against this guy was extracted under torture? "

no, you are wrong, if you took the trouble to read up on it you would see that theres is a possibility that evidence may/could have been alledgedly gained by torture.

thats somewhat different to was/has or proven to have been

but it seems people like you would prefer to give people like him the benefit of the doubt and allow him to walk the streets of this country spewing his hatred.
benefit of the doubt is the basis of our legal system, yes.
People like me? Now what sort of people would that be then?
Did anyone else see the short interview this mans solicitor made
I thought she was almost apologising for the result and hinting that the ruling will help clear up any anomolies

I could be wrong though
What I find perplexing is that as he entered this country via a forged UAE passport there must surely be grounds to deport him for that alone if nothing else?
The cost to the taxpayer of keeping him and his family here under such strict curfews must be astronomical and it's time the UK government grew a pair.
Our peers must surely look at us as a laughing stock.
Put him on a boat and set him adrift in international waters not far from the Persian Gulf and let him take his chances.
What I find most hard to understand is how Judges such as Mitting, who lounge in Academia, along with his other liberal thinking cronies, being paid by us, has such a lack of concern for the safety of the people who empoly him and such great concern for the rights of an illegal immigrant who spews hatred to the very people who pay for his and his spawns existance. Just get rid of the SIAC and send Mitting and his mates to do something useful.
" is that he's a troublesome priest"

i take it you got your B.A in understatement then
"The cost to the taxpayer of keeping him and his family here under such strict curfews must be astronomical"

I was reading an article earlier (trying to find link) that puts the estimated cost at around 5 million a year
