Misguided lass if she thinks MPs are celebrities
When you have been elected as an MP you do not travel to Australia to talk about politics, you stay in your constituency and work at it.
never heard of her...do the telly folk she is a "draw" ?....would rather see the lollipop man from end of the road than her !
Wow - seriously bad judgement for a sitting MP

What was she thinking?
She is thinking that she is a lame duck MP - disliked by her own leadership after the House of Commons "posh boys" comments, disliked by many voters within her own constituency for expenses irregularities and persistent lying, disliked by many just because she is such a numpty.

I am pretty sure that, should the boundaries changes ever get through, her specific constituency would disappear, so maybe thats in the back of her mind also.

She has said that the main reason for going is to publicize her "20 weeks" abortion upper time limit campaign.

I think she is a relentless self-publicist. A serial lyer. Someone with religious ideologies that lead her to ignore or reject the science.

She is doing her constituents a disservice, being effectively unavailable for a month. She is doing her party a disservice, she will be unable to vote, which may have some importance. And given that the esteem of MPs is at an all time low, she is doing the reputation of MPs a disservice by appearing on a programme populated by z-list celebrities desperate to reboot their flagging careers.

I find nothing admirable or likeable in Dorries at all, and all this does is to further my already low opinion of her.
As long as she forfeits any parliamentary salary for the period she can do what she wants. However her constituency must be riled up as they won't be represented during her exile.
Having watched the local news lunchtime, I have a feeling she will not be selected next election
Who??
Baldric - yes, quite!
A non-descript tv show for a non-descript MP/celeb (sic) and therefore a non-descript story.
Its not a non-descript story. I agree a non-descript MP though :)

Breaking news is that she has had the tory whip removed;

George Galloway did worse on BB
LG where was it removed from?
^^ LoL.

I would hate to speculate...

Publicity? Maybe she thinks she'll become as famous, or infamous, as gruesome George.
It's bloody ridiculous really that she even considers this acceptable, she probably has a good idea that she won't be re-elected so needs to raise her profile so she can present some lame reality show or the such like when her political career comes to an inevitable end.
She is a maverick. She has been a thorn in Cameron's side. He will probably be glad to see her go.
Yes she is a self publicist and a cheat. I remember in that tower block show where they had to live with ordinary families she took in money against the rules.
I heard the excuse earlier that she reckons it will help her get young people interested in politics. Give me a quarter of her fee and ill stay in this country and find ways to get young people more interested.

She is simply fame hungry and not fit to speak or her constituents.
Just been watching the ridiculous Lembit Opik attempting to support her decision to participate in this show.

Lembit - an indifferent MP, an appalling stand up comic, and currently a z-list celebrity doing anything to get telly time.
You mean this Lembit Opik.
