Wasn't she an investigative journalist in the early days. Perhaps she could have used her platform to do a bit more investigation where that young girl did go to the police and no action was taken. Imagine how devastating for that child if true.
Nobody seems surprised except his PA and his family. Louis Theroux is on record as saying he wasn't surprised when he heard the news.
see mrs overall's comments on the other Savile thread, they are very salient for this one.
He was seen kissing girl on his lap, she wasnt tied up or restrained. Just a lech & female chancer - not illegal
Poor Jimmy, he never got the chance to offer millions of pounds to his accusers , to prove his innocence.
I did not say that they were 'just' rumours by the way. Rumours often turn out to have a basis in fact. It does seem rather odd that Esther Rantzen did nothing. Maybe it depends how serious she considered what happened.
As for the money he raised being 'dirty' though. Hardly!!!
Most people don't seem to be surprised.

Maybe it's people like him that spurred her (Esther) to start child line. She knew people kept quiet and covered it up!

And they did..

OMG ITV News now. Nobody at BBC surprised. Paul Gambuccini said JS told him he was too valuable to the BBC when PG warned him he was living dangerously when he saw him in a hotel bedroom with a 12 year old girl. Told PG if he told anyone the money for Stoke Mandeville would dry up!
Most folk have both good and bad sides. Certainly he was a character who did a lot of good. But whilst I can not tell for sure re these allegations, it seems, like Ester said, pretty damning when different unconnected individuals all tell much the same story. And it is hardly surprising the BBC can find no evidence, one would not expect a record of such things to be kept.
There you go!!

What a wanke.r
He was also very valuable to the BBC OG.
there have been others who have spoken out now, perhaps it is because he is gone that they can finally speak. Children do not usually tell on adults who abuse them, it is why it can go on for so long.
BUT ........ Like, Micheal Jackson .....or is this different?
St Francis reformed; his sainthood depended on what happened after he did so. If it turns out that any misdeeds perpetrated by Savile were over and done with before his saintly fundraising began, then yes, he could be a saint. Let's see, shall we?

who knows, but i do know that children who are vulnerable are often those who get picked on by paedophiles.
Same as Jacko - neither were brought to justice before they met their maker
And the paper that backed down m3.
